My Elementary aged boys loved it! A must do to learn about the indigenous in this region and beyond!

So much depth to this museum! A must see if you want to learn more about indigenous and native textiles, pottery, masks, art, agriculture and more. I rate this museum better than the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture and Santa Fe. My 9yr old and 6yr old were thoroughly entranced by the dinosaur, the pottery, the activity center, the art and the vast collection of indigenous tools.

Beautiful museum

I was surprised that this beautiful museum has free admission. There are lots of neat things in the gift shop and they have lots of books. Right when you walk inside the first thing you see is the impressive dinosaur skeleton. There were drawers full of arrowheads and some mineral displays. Much of the museum is Indian artifacts; baskets, pots and such. There was a large room for children with lots of activities and hands-on things.

Terrific, Fascinating Museum

This museum is top-notch. They have an impressive collection of baskets and jars from all around the world, in addition to the reconstruction of the fossilized skeleton of an Acrocanthosaurus atokensis (a large, carnivorous, spined dinosaur) found in McCurtain County (where Idabel is located). In addition, the museum includes many pieces of art and artifacts used by people both in the past and in the present-day from various Indigenous tribes, including the Caddo, who historically called this area home, and the Choctaw, who were forcibly removed to this area by the U.S. government.

A terrific museum! I can’t wait to return soon!

Great Museum - Free Admission

My spouse and I decided to visit and found the exhibits to be amazing and of high quality. The exhibits are well preserved with items going back to 200bc.

Just WOW. What a great Museum

Having grown up in the county, we had never stopped in. We finally did on a trip home, and we were so glad that we did. Very impressive, nicely set up, and a lot to see. The Harold Stevenson exhibition was top notch. The Dinosaur was not too shabby either. If you are ever in McCurtain Co. OK, do not hesitate to go visit this great Museum.

Very cool museum

We were wrapping up our trip and decided to check out the museum. We were very happy we visited as it turned out to be an excellent experience. We didn't know what to expect and were surprised with the variety of type of exhibits. I can't believe it's offered at no charge (donations accepted). If you have some down time while in Broken Bow or other close-by areas, I'd suggest taking a trip to this hidden gem in Idabel.

I was super impressed with this museum. I had beem here 15 years ago, and it is way better. It was 800 square feet, now it's 56,000 square feet. Our favorite thing was the full size dinasour skeleton.

Lovely Museum

My husband and I found out about this museum while riding the little train at Beaver's Bend State Park. The man that drove the train highly recommended it. We were greeted by a precious man named John. He was very friendly and very informative. He knows his stuff! They have alot to look at. So many artifacts, art and things you really would not expect to see here. And the dinosaur is a MUST see! We will be back the next time we come through!
