The eagles were there, we saw a total of eight below the dam. The area of Eagle Pass was particularly good as we saw four eagles in one tree.

The tour begins at the GRDA (Grand River Dam Authority) Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley. The volunteer will scan your ID, have you fill out a "permission slip", then show you a short video. You will be taken by golf cart across the road to the original elevator that takes you down into the hydroelectric facility behind the dam. It's warm and loud, but you are given earplugs. You are taken outside to view the back of the dam, a narrow concrete design of 51 arches listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Back at the GRDA Center, be sure to study the map of the lake and surrounding towns laid into the floor. Then drive across the dam on the narrow highway and check out the spillways.

Just a short visit went inside got to see a short movie of how it was made and caught a tour and learned some facts about the dam but didn’t get to go down inside it because of the high water levels but it still was a good tour, our guide was very knowledgeable about the dam.

We fish the dam quite often, but lately there has been so much rain. There are places to camp, picnic, fish, 4 wheel, bird watch..just about anything including hiking. These pictures are when they were letting out the flood waters..... bring a sea pole!

This is one of the few dams where you can still tour it. Tours are offered on the hour during the summer. The tour begins with a short video. Then, you receive an escorted tour of the outside and inside of the dam. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Seeing how huge the turbines were and how much electrical power they generated was awe inspiring.

We arrived to the museum and were told the video was taken by a visitor so we could not watch it. We walked through and lobby and while interesting we were disappointed a little. We walked outside and a police officer asked if we needed any help. I told him we could not see the video and we were just interested in the dam. He said give me a couple of minutes and meet me across the street. He walked us through the power plant and showed us the key points of the tour and showed us the police patrol boats which the kids loved. Great visit.

We were too late to get a tour. We visited in October ,tours end September. We did our own tour and what an impressive piece of engineering it is.

We've never visited a dam before. Our tour guide was Roy. He was very knowledgeable and we learned that because of security reasons, very few dams in the United States offer tours to the general public any longer. We went down inside the dam and got to see the 6 generators in operation. Earplugs are provided because of the noise. We learned about the history of the dam and lots of great info about Grand Lake. Very enjoyable and it was free!!

Enthusiastic tour guide Roy was our favorite part. There is a Ten minute video, discussion about the dam by the flagpole, rode down elevator built in 1938 to see the six turbines running. This is the only dam tour you can take other than the Hoover dam in the southern part of the United States according to Roy. Tour lasted About 45 minutes. Roy was very Knowledgeable and friendly. He Took pictures for each group. Only thing lacking was a gift shop. We wanted a dam tshirt or a dam magnet. And I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to go to the base of the dam like I saw in other pictures or walk out on the little platform.

This was a great tour. Our guide did an awesome job! He really got our teenagers involved. So thankful we got to see this up close and learn the history of the dam.
