“Quirky little town”

我们去过这里好几次了。我喜欢这个小镇感觉和我的妻子,女儿和外孙女喜欢的商店!

我和妹妹开车去河里游泳。对于$2你可以一整天都游泳。我建议早点去。我们不得不自己在有一段时间了,但是我们回来的时候吃过午饭之后,这个地方挤满了带着小孩的家庭。你一定要在一个较弱的人。它会很深而且没有救生员。这是一个可爱的小镇。唯一的问题是很多小企业都关门了。我们在那里住了一个星期,但7月是旅游旺季,所以你会觉得一切都是开放的。这里的很多建筑都是用石头做的到处都是的,这使得它有很多的特色。我下次来还不错,我们肯定还会再来。

Need new staff

Staff is very rude and food too expensive for what you get. In the middle of our meal staff told us we couldn’t sit in an area because we had a 5 year old with us. There was no bar near us. Instead he wanted to move us to a wet table nearer to the actual bar. Ruined our experience. Unfortunate.

Infamous Speed Trap; Avoid!

This town is not worth your time and money. The Town of Medicine Park has annexed SH-49 (and unfortunate businesses adjacent to I-44) miles from edge of the town's population center. They then abruptly drop the speed limit from 65 MPH to 45 MPH, and exact their toll (starting at $166) from unsuspecting tourists. If this is the way they treat people traveling to and from their town, imagine how they treat people who stay there.

The Wildlife Refuge is really nice, but don't take SH49 to get there. Save your money and take SH-115 instead; you'll thank me later.

Medicine Park, Okalahoma - an oasis of beauty off the beaten path...well worth the visit

Stayed through the Memorial Weekend in Medicine Park OK and enjoyed the 5th Annual Roots Ball Music Festival...had a great time listening to the many varied musical performances. Even though the weekend turned out to be brutally hot and muggy, the crowd attendance was still quite impressive. Plenty of quirky shops and stores to keep your attention, and also a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, and dining options to take care of your hunger fix. The Medicine Creek runs through the town, and it has catered to the tourists by offering a large swimming area, and other amenities. Definitely worth a visit when there is a festival going on...otherwise the town of about 400 in population still offers a variety of things to see and do even without a special event. Plus the town is located nearby to the adjacent beautiful Wichita Mountains and the Wildlife Refuge Area.

Fun on a Winter Day

We were staying in the area and decided to come into town about 10am to find out most things were not opening till noon due to colder weather and end of peak season. Fun walking around. There was a volunteer group that was working on cleanup in the river area and met with the Facebook champion for the town and he took some pictures for us and shared with us some history of the area.

As things began to open did some exploring and everyone was very nice. Due to colder weather we decided to have lunch at the Plantation. Did not disappoint. Walk some of the streets and see all the old buildings. Many shops tucked in and around.

Very close to the refuge so great area to fill a long weekend.

A good place for your soul

Absolutely love this place! We visited on July 4 for the street festival. A few of the restaurants and stores were closed, which in a way I was surprised, since it was a festival, but I also understand since it was a holiday. But if you're a hippie and/or a free spirit, this is the place for you. The scenery, the atmosphere, the live music, it's all so serene.

Gorgeous Views

Loved the herds of buffalo, the rolling hills, lakes and streams. Felt like we were a long way from home but really weren't more than about 20 minutes.

Beautiful place to visit

One of the many places to visit in the Wichita mountains! Lots of places to shop, stroll, and take in the great outdoors. Quaint little village within just a few miles of Mt Scott, Wichita Refuge, The Holy City.

Fui con mi familia y es el lugar mas pasivo que puedes encontrar. Las personas de los negocios dentro de medicine park eran bien agradables. Recomiendo visitar Medicine Park. You won't regret it.

Medicine Park Sister’s Trip

Wonderful walkable town perfect for a long weekend. We really enjoyed staying in the Creekside cabin through Airbnb. The wildlife refuge is a very short drive away. Cute shops, stands and cafes. We especially enjoyed dining at The Plantation Restaurant and those fried green tomatoes! The Tacos at Small Mountan Street Tacos are also worth a mention. The other eateries were average.
Found some great gifts at Comanche Shirt Company and The White Buffalo shop.
The weather shifts were pretty drastic in mid March. We saw lows in the teens our first night, some snow on day one and low 60’s on day two. Still a wonderful long weekend.

Not What You Will Remember From the 70s-early 90s. Probably Best for Adults After Dark

This is not the sleepy little Medicine Park that many might remember from the 70s-early 90s. This is a loud, center of activity. When I say loud...I mean loud. I would advise staying anywhere near the main street. Bars/Restaurants are open until around midnight. If you do don't plan on getting any sleep before that time. Motorcycles with loud music and same coming from the bars until around midnight. I saw many families there which seems like a good day trip but don't think you would want little ones around in the evening. Probably great for partying adults.

The Old Plantations Restaurant is also not what you will remember. It has been redone completely and other than the exterior of the building and the name it has no similarities. The down-home welcome of Grandpa and Grandma are not there anymore and those enormous dinner rolls with the burnt bottoms have been replaced by smaller ones that have the appearance of being mass produced.

The nearby Wichita Mountains are your sanctuary from this crazy town!
