Absolutely beautiful historic building with a wonderful collection representing Oklahomans who have contributed to the betterment of the world in a variety of capacities from sports, entertainment, civil rights, medicine, education & business.

Every inductee has their portrait or picture somewhere throughout the museum with their name, City & general contribution plus the year inducted into the Oklahoma Hall Of Fame. I think an added touch would be a longer synopsis of what each person did in more detail but I’m the curious type of person that will look them up to find out more information 👍🏻

There is an art gallery where the artist exhibits rotate periodically. The current exhibit “Spirit Of Color”, just started and runs to April 30th, 2020. Beautiful art that you can contact the museum about purchasing the items.

Originally built in 1926 for the Mid-Continental Life Insurance Company. I love that every door handle still contains the Mid-Continental emblem. The building is absolutely gorgeous, grand staircases on every floor & marble everywhere! You can even rent the location for private events & weddings. Unique venue with lots of beautiful photo opportunities.

This was my second time here. It’s a nice way to spend an hour or two browsing around.

This Hall of Fame is located in a very impressive building which used to belong to an Insurance Company. In the building you will see documentation of the creation of this lovely building and get a sense of the history of that time in 1927. My favorite part of this museum is the chance to learn about people who made big contributions to the state, the nation , and the world about whom I knew nothing prior to visiting the Hall of Fame. Learning of these people was very inspirational and I'm so glad I had a chance to spend some time learning about their lives. You push computer buttons and screens turn on and you learn about the individuals. I visited as a solo adult but they make a point of promoting themselves as a place for family fun. They have photo places where you can take a picture of yourself aboard a bucking bronco and other such things. I think the sign said that Thursdays are the day for free family fun.

I came here on a field trip with my kids. I was expecting to learn about all the great people from Oklahoma, including many Native Americans, but the museum has a really low threshold for who they consider to be "Oklahoman." You pretty much only need to live here for the most minimal amount of time and be famous for anything to be inducted. I don't think inductees even really need to be living here while they do whatever they're famous for, and it doesn't matter whether they consider themselves Oklahomans.

There was local art, but not a lot of it. The museum, while spacious, felt pretty empty. The most interesting part of our tour was the President's office. I probably wouldn't come back. My kids found it boring, and there wasn't much to hold their interest.

The museum itself is interesting in terms of Oklahoma pride and history. Worth a visit whether you are a native or a visitor. But as a wedding venue, it is delightful. Picture a ceremony in the garden courtyard, flanked by walls of water. Then the central staircase as the site of memorable wedding pictures. And to top that, the 4th floor, an open hall that seats probably 200 with a dance floor, wonderful windows and admission to the museum below if you want to wander instead of dance.

Aside from a temporary exhibit of paintings by a local artist, the exhibit halls are filled with portraits of notable Oklahomans. Its not anything I am interested in nor will I remember any of it. Exhibit space in a superb mansion and certainly could be used more productively. During my visit there was one other visitor which may say something about the popularity of this place.

Housed in a beautiful location, the Gaylord-Pickens Museum is a treasure for Oklahoma City. It's interactive displays are state of the art and will give natives and tourists alike a new found appreciation for the "Sooner State." A must see.

We attended a wedding reception here on the top floor. A few of the exhibits were open for us to see on lower floors, and I did enjoy browsing through them. The museum was a very nice place for a reception (for up to around 180).

This is a small museum in a beautiful building in Oklahoma City. It has oil paintings of all people who have been inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. I did find myself wishing that each painting had an explanation of the person's contributions to Oklahoma so I could understand why they had been inducted. The museum has some multi media experiences and other small exhibits, such as the one on Route 66. It also has the president of the former insurance companies office set up. It doesn't take to much time as it does not have many exhibits. However, it is interesting, and a great way to beat the heat in the summer for a couple of hours. Admission on Saturday is 1.00.

This museum is housed in a great restored building. I was excited to learn about the prominent luminaries from OK. Disappointingly, the only people truly highlighted were the ones inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. The remainder of the museum has an empty feel which is not great for engaging your interest. Stop briefly to look at the building.

Open since 2007 in a historical building, this is one of those new breed of museums that are basically a bunch of empty rooms. It relies on technology and lots of video screens from which visitors can select and view video clips. There are areas about civil rights, Oklahomans who were pioneers in various fields, current successful people from the state, and an Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Not everything here is digital. There’s a ring of busts of famous people from the state that have questions to help you identify them; there’s an upstairs gallery with paintings on the wall; the presidents office of the Mid-Continent Insurance Company, which was previously housed in the building; and a nice gift shop with an eclectic mix of merchandise. One area that made me laugh was a framed grouping of men in business suites, presumably CEOs, and the only woman in the mix was Kristin Chenoweth, all smiley in a white frame that was markedly different from the rest. I almost expected her to start singing “Loathing” from “Wicked.” Most of the digital stations have chairs or benches. The guy at the front desk was friendly and professional as he patiently explained the layout of the museum and how things worked. I prefer old-school museums that rely more on actual artifacts, but this place was well done and held my interest, although I won’t need to go back anytime soon.
