So we get here and find that the swim beach is closed. I mentioned it to the host who with an attitude says it’s been closed for a year. I say it doesn’t say that on the website and she says of course it does.. really nice attitude and the swim beach is definitely close, so if you wanna bring young kids here your grandkids here to go swimming don’t come to TallChief Cove for a beach or kayaking experience..

We have been coming to this park for 15 years but will never be back! The new attendant is very rude. What a shame. Other campers we talked to have indicated this as well. What a shame.

Three loops for campers, RVs, trailers or tents. The camping spaces (I was on the C loop) are very spacious - not at all crowded together.
My space had a covered picnic table with a grill, and a fire ring for sitting by the fire - very nice on the evening. A perfect kayak launching beach was about 30 feet from my camp spot.
The C loop has bathrooms, no showers. Showers are available in the A and B loops. There's a very large pavilion in the C loop for parties/group activities.
Take LONG hoses for water hookups! The water connection required every hose I had with me (4 of varying lengths) and I wouldn't have made it without my inline filter.
A very 0peasant stay and I look forward to coming back!

Aa s COE goes, better than any other we have visited. Our staff was very friendly, the CG was clean, the bathhouse were concrete block without any ventilation - too hot to use! They have a great boat ramp and playground for kids. Sites are pretty level and can accommodate large parties. We camped here in a 30-foot Class A motor home. Sites are predominantly back-in, lots of shade unless you are on a lake site.

Stopped by to find a spot to bring our RV on a future date. The old man was rude and acted like he couldn't understand why would we want to just see the area and that there was no point in us doing that since there were no spots available anyway. I tried to keep it light and just said, can we just do a drive through? He looked at his watch and made a face, he let us in but I felt like I was doing something wrong or being punished for no reason. In other parks or State Parks we are always greeted with a smile a map and a welcoming remark to come back and make a reservation for our camping dates. Probably not going to stay there.

Took our camper out for a couple of nights this last weekend. Had never stayed here before and my parents live close. Lake is pretty. Park is clean. Only have shared water and electric hookups - no sewer, which was sort of a bummer. Camp sites are level. Plenty of shade. People were nice and stuck to the quiet hours. Would definitely come back again. Book early! These sites tend to fill up and we will be more selective about our space next time. This time we were too far away from the water hookup.

My husband and I have been going here for years. Before they had water. It is the best camping around.

Tall Chief Cove is a lovely place to come for the day, with a protected swimming area with shallows for the smaller kids, but it is better still for camping, especially in the spring and fall when the usage level is somewhat lower than in the hot and rather steamy summer. The campsites are great... website listed below. However, do bring your own firewood! If you are boating, this is a Corps of Engineers lake - it is patrolled well and your boat should be properly registered and have all required safety equipment.

Tall chief cove is an excellent place to spend the day with family at the beach. The swimming area is roped off and it includes a large stretch of beach to picnic, build sand castles and fun in the sun on. There are 2 volleyball nets set up for you to strike up a game. There are restrooms within walking distance and plenty of shaded parking. There are picnic tables in a well shaded area as well as grills if you would like to bring lunch and cook out. At the entrance of the swimming area, to tall chief cove there is a quick little gas station for anything you have forgotten or a quick drink or snack. The ladies that own and run this place are amazing and very helpful and know everything about the area if you have any questions. I highly recommend taking a day trip to Tall Chief. It is $5 per day for the car load, you cannot beat that for a trip away to the beach!

Great place to have a company picnic. We reserved the pavilion, rented some bouncy houses for the kids, catered the food and filled the ice chests. Out employees had a wonderful time! Some even camped for the weekend. The playground was clean and safe, fishing was great and there was a boat dock near by. Great place.
