Really immersive museum that covers not only Woody Guthrie but folk music and the times he lived in. The museum is very well laid out.

Spent more than an hour there. Many Guthrie artifacts and a short movie to watch. Many restaurants nearby and Dylan Center 1 block away.. Very valuable for folk music/history.

A small museum but really well laid out, with colorful, informative, interactive & interesting exhibits. I liked the ability to listen to Woody's songs throughout, and the collection of his memorabilia are really touching. What a tremendous life and accomplishments. Get a dual-entry ticket to the Bob Dylan Center, which is on the same city block.

This place was a time capsule of Woody's life and times. Even if you are not familiar with the man's work, the glimpse into the history of the times will keep you occupied for quite awhile. I have always liked Woody's music but I learned so much more about the man and his life. And if you are into old instruments, there are plenty to see here.

Fabulous interactive displays on every aspect of his life and the times he lived in and chronicled so elegantly. There was a good intro film.
The use of virtual reality on the dustbowl was actually scary.
Think you need to be a fan to want to go but when you’re there it’s just astonishing how many different later musicians he influenced.
We knew Springsteen was one of them and as fans were delighted that there was a temporary exhibition on his tours, with in-depth interviews and archive concert footage.
The missing item was Woody’s guitar marked with “this machine kills fascists”. Guess it’s in another museum or private hands.
Great to see his banjo though on this self-guided tour.

I knew that Woody Guthrie wrote "This Land is Your Land", but I learned a lot more when we visited. I liked the interactive exhibits, and the bonus of the Bruce Springsteen exhibit.

We enjoyed the many opportunities to hear his music. We were raised in the Texas panhandle, so know Pampa and dust storms. The virtual experience of the dirt storm was realistic and brought back memories.

Sunday on July 4th weekend is not the best time to go here. They were closing in 15 minutes so we could not go it. We did walk afound and get pictures of all of the murals on the building.

I agree with all of the reviews, but adding to be sure to put on the headsets for the dust bowl experience. No additional charge and it really adds to the whole experience.
The whole Center is point and touch so a docent might be nice, but certainly not essential. (We didn’t hire a docent and I don’t think anyone else did either.)

I am a great fan of Woody Guthrie and the history and music of his time. I would like to know how long would I need to thoroughly see this museum, including the exhibits and films. I have no problem spending hours or even days but would not want to shortchange myself. It's a long time dream and will be the only time I will ever go there. For reference, I spent 2 days in the Rock and Roll Museum, one day only in the early part, Woody and all the influences.

I am a HUGE fan of Woody Guthrie and am flying in from Boston just to see this museum. I imagine there's not a lot to do in Tulsa besides this. I am wondering how long would it take to REALLY see this museum. All the exhibits, listening to the music, watching the films. I have been known to spend all day at museums. Is this one like this? I need to know this to make plane and hotel reservations. Are 2 days enough? One day at the museum, evening in Tulsa, leave the next day?

Most of a day any Guthrie and then go do other museums in Tulsa. If you're coming special, I'd check the website for special exhibits it may have. I also check stub hub for upcoming concerts and theatre in cities I visit when my schedule is open-ended.

There is no tour..........you go at your own pace. It's a very small museum, crammed full of well-displayed items. It's got a lot of interactive displays too. If you listen to everything and read everything - probably 3 hours. You can actually do the whole thing, picking and choosing, in 1 hour - 1 1/2 hours.
