We stopped in during MayFest and did not know this place even existed. There was staff on hand that interacted with the kids and made the experience fun for them. From what I understand, this center is normally available for school tours. From fossils to rose rocks, this place covers the spectrum!

My first-grader thoroughly enjoyed his session here. Brock, the instructor, did an outstanding job of sharing content in a relatable, colorful way. The various hands-on activities helped my son to internalize concepts. It was a great extension of topics he has been studying this year. Low-profile gem of an educational opportunity!

Kids (age 12 and 9) were fascinated by the hands on experience. The teacher/guide kept them fully engaged for 2 hours. Kids and adults alike learned a lot and had fun. We were able to reserve online ahead of time. Terrific value.

If you have any interest in geology and the oil and gas industry, this is a good place to stop. Family/school friendly.

While planning a trip to visit friends in Tulsa, I researched fun, educational places to take my son while he was off from school for the Jewish holiday (We live in NJ). In my search, I found the Tulsa Geoscience Center which appears to only be open for school tours. However, I sent an e-mail and was able to join a home school group for the 2 1/2 tour of the Geoscience Center.
Note: This is not a tour at all. It is very hands-on and interactive. My son went with the 8 and under group. But they also had a group for children over the age of 8.
During the 2 1/2 hours, my son learned about dinosaurs, earthquakes, tsunamis, rocks & minerals, fossils, etc. His favorite parts of the "tour" was participating in the earthquake and tsunami experiments as well as making his own cast of a fossil and identifying rocks/minerals and fossils. He also loved being able to take home a few items from the fossil dig.
At the end of our visit my son said, "I wish I could go to school here every day." Broc and the professor made learning so much fun for all the kids. I'm so glad that the director, Broc, could accommodate two visitors all the way from New Jersey. Otherwise, we would have never known what an amazing venue we would have missed out on exploring.
