What a peaceful place to relax and refresh!

This is our second time to Roman Nose State Park, we stayed in the lodge with Lake view and it was amazing.

The hiking trails were very well marked. We went on top of Inspiration lookout and the views are amazing, there is a bench where you can sit and take in all the beauty.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Book your camping trip online then no need to check in. Hiking trails were perfect and beautiful. Trail map and distances are off, but it’s impossible to get lost. Just keep walking. Mix of everything on the trails. FYI the trails marked for bikes are only for the most advanced mountain bikers.
Rv sites were concrete and provided plenty of area. Park rangers were great. Showed us where to find owls, and even stopped at our spot to warn us of rain, and took our garbage when he left. Pool is public and really nice but it’s $6 to get in. Nice picnic area by the pool and don’t miss the natural spring close to the pool. General store is quaint, staff is very helpful and they serve pretty good food. Bathrooms and showers are newer, clean and free. Firewood is very expensive. Park rules state no drinking over 3.2% and no smoking, but the rangers didn’t care as long as you weren’t out of hand. Had such a great time last month we are going again this month.

Great place to hike. Very nice night hike that we did for the first time. We stayed at the lodge and had a great experience with the people at the front desk. They went out of their way to help us. We will define comeback. The park needs work in the hiking areas and at the lake., but other than that it was great

The lake is still under construction, and there are some weird smells, but the facilities at this park are excellent. We drove here specifically to hike the set of trails up to Inspiration Point. The trails are excellent...lots of tree cover and some good views. A beautiful bench at the top. Sometimes the trails are well-marked...other times, not so much. Highly recommend for hiking! Seems like it would be a good place to camp. Lots of modern, updated sites and super nice bathrooms. Restaurants at the general store and at the visitor's center. Lots of recent upgrades.

Although described as 4 miles, our route was just 3 miles, with an elevation gain of 255 feet, and took just under 2 hours. We met at 7, but didn't actually begin hike until around 7:30. The guide, who has been leading these for several years, handed out glow sticks and gave basic safety information before leading about 30 of us up to Inspiration Point, where we sat down (only 1 bench) and waited for the moon to rise in the NE. Lots of picture taking, and then we headed back down the way we came up. Needed a coat for after sundown, this time of year. You will need water and a flashlight, or use your phone's flashlight. Hiking shoes are good for the roots and rocks. A fun experience.

This state park is located just north of Watonga. The lodge is beautiful with a great restaurant called Swadley's Foggy Bottom Kitchen which is the same family as Swadley's Barbeque and the General store for dining. Romans has great hiking trails, biking trails, fishing, canoeing, swimming, and a 19 hole golf course that would be a challenge for the pro's but a great course to play. You can tent camp, camper camp, and even T Pee camp or if you like staying inside they also have cabins. Also you must check out Watonga's main street they have great stores in town.

I should have known there would be issues when I first called and was told there were no cabins available for the dates we planned to travel. When I called back, the cabins were available. So, we arrived to find that the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (didn't expect this during peak Summer season). Also, the restaurant has been taken over by the Swadleys BBQ group and they enclosed the restaurant...completely blocking off the wonderful fireplace which we've enjoyed on so many previous occasions. Now only restaurant-goers have access to fireplace...but nobody does on Mondays and Tuesdays. It also made access to the balcony difficult. The restaurant absolutely killed the welcoming lodge vibe...and we didn't even get to eat there.
Then, our cabin had sewage back up into the shower. At first we were told there were no other cabins but then were told we could be moved to the handicapped cabin. It was late but we moved, only to arrive to a beeping alarm panel that we couldn't turn off. We tried to call the desk with the phone (landline). It wasn't working. We finally got the alarm to stop beeping and just stayed put. There was also hair in the shower (not ours), so many cobwebs, no paper towels, no cups for the coffee (luckily we had our own)...In the morning, when we reported the alarm and phone to the front desk, they said they were already aware. Omg! What a nightmare! Why didn't they turn it off? The cabins really are at a point they need some general maintenance. The only thing that made this trip not a total bust is because the room was comped...
Additionally, the lake is currently drained to fix the dam...we didn't know that either.
So. My advice, never go to Roman Nose on Monday or Tuesday and ask about the state of the lake...as for us, we'll probably never go back. Too many places in the world to see...inconsistent services provided and the lodge ambience RUINED by the new restaurant! All guests should have easy access to the fireplace and balcony! Bye, Roman Nose!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time with our dog!! It was a beautiful day but we got a little lost off the trail. Luckily Sgt. Martin Ramos came to our rescue and picked us up. He was very kind and gave us water. Thank you for an amazing time! We will definitely be back.

This is one of my favorite state parks to visit. It is close to Enid, has amazing hiking opportunities and the Foggy Bottom Restaurant is amazing. This year with the pool being open, I will be spending even more time there.

The park is 75 miles west of Oklahoma City. There is no admission fee.
We went here for a hike with several friends, two dogs, and our daughter the other day. This is an area with two man-made lakes, several trails (marking of them is rather haphazard, however), and some hills and dry (this time of year) streambeds. You start out usually from the lodge area, and let me not fail to say there is the golf course over there too. The day we went there were hardly any other people around. If you do the course (circuit) south of the lakes you can have a good 2 - 4 mile walk with some relaxing scenery. We didn’t see any wildlife about and I suppose there usually isn’t any (?).
Around the lodge there are a couple of tables where you can have a picnic if you bring along some items.
The lodge itself has a nice balcony where you can sit and have lunch overlooking the lake. We might go back there this week.
We don’t know Oklahoma well so I can’t say if this is one of the cooler places in the OK city area, or what. We did enjoy the visit.
Good place for an afternoon walk.
Enjoy the scenery and stay healthy!
