We stayed overnight in Baker City on our way from Portland to Utah. We had a very nice dinner at Latitude 45 Grille and then a flight of excellent dark beers at Barley Brown’s Taphouse (recommended to us by waitress at Latitude). The next morning I had a good coffee and yummy pastry at Sweet Wife Bakery followed by a wonderful hour of shopping at the terrific kitchen shop in town.
Best thing about our visit to Baker City was how nice, friendly and helpful all the people we interacted with were. I look forward to our next opportunity to visit this delightful town.

Driving through thought I’d find a coffee and discovered this delightful little town. Historic buildings, charming metal animal sculptures on the sidewalk, what seemed like viable stores, and working restaurants with outdoor seating, with mountains in the background. And it seemed to be beyond the heat dome. I wish I’d had a couple of days! Also the friendly woman at the fruit stand on the way out of town explained the differences between the 5? Kinds of cherries she had and encouraged taste testing. Grocery store cherries will never be the same.

this town has many old buildings. The walking tour explains each building and the history behind the buildings. It is a delightful way to see this small town.

Baker City downtown is cute but right now with the metal sculptures its even better, not sure how much longer they are going to be there but they are awesome.

I live here in Baker City and bronze artwork statues were added to Main St. There is now artwork to find, like statues and paintings and the stores are always fun to go into. It is always great to see the old buildings and the buildings give the best Instagram background. The best time to see all of this is in the winter during Christmas. Ryder Brothers often set up a train set that is so pretty. It might not be perfect for children but it is a great walk and if you are a history lover like me, you will love the buildings.

The downtown area of Baker City is amazing around the holidays. The storefronts are warm and fuzzy with lights and the storekeepers make it a point to put a real feeling in their windows. Almost magical.

We have family that live in Idaho that recommended we travel to Baker City on our way to Hell's Canyon. We were somewhat disappointed in the town. Yes, it is a quaint little town. Yes, there are many historic buildings which we enjoyed seeing (using a walking tour map), but that's all there is to do. I would not recommend going out of your way to visit Baker City except for the fact that The Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is about 5 miles outside of Baker City and is definitely worth going out of your way to see.

Talk about a throw back in time. Baker City has been frozen in time, in a good way. You can tell the people, and town take great pride in their town just by the up keep of all of the historic buildings.
