Simply one of the best gyms in the country. Big walls, skilled route setters, and all difficulty ratings covered well, from 5.6 to 5.13. The ratings are very consistent. There are self-belays, top-ropes and many lead routes with closely spaced bolts. A safe and very fun place to climb. Huge bouldering area in three buildings. You will not run out of boulder problems.
The employees are always friendly and helpful. If they see something potentially dangerous going on, for example an improper belay technique, they will step in and offer advice. Instruction is top-notch; I've been climbing seriously for over 40 years, and I still can pick up tips from watching them instruct.
It can be crowded on a weekend if the kids are out of school and the weather is bad outside.

What a great time for our 4 grandsons (10-12) and us. The instruction for the boys was spot on, enough but not overwhelming. to them. The autoclave feature was the best for beginning climbers. After an hour and a half, they were totally wiped out from scrambling up the climbing walls. The staff really kept tabs on us and let us know when new areas opened up for us to try.

While my grandsons were visiting Bend we took them over to the Rock Gym. We had gone once before with them in Spokane. The great thing about this Gym was the "auto belay" system. No adult had to put on the harness to belay the kids back down. The boys were 7 and 10 and they had a blast trying the different climbing walls. The employees were great with the kids. It was fun to see the hesitation at first with the auto belay but after a couple of times they were attempting really challenging walls. Great fun to watch!

We heard about Bend Rock Gym from some friends and wanted to check it out. There facility is top notch and staff is super friendly, from beginner to advanced this place rocks! We had a blast climbing, the kids loved it and the staff showed them all exactly what to do and how to do it. Super Friendly!
