Crane was absolutely great. All the store help was extra courteous. The newer owners are GREAT!!! JT & staff r the best! We caught a ton of fish thanks to their advice!

Crane Prairie is an excellent lake for catching large rainbow trout. I have brought in "Cranebows" over 20", with 16-18 inch rainbows quite common. Fly fishing, spin or bait fishing, trolling... it all works here. There is ample parking for boat trailers at the resort, as well as a nice launch. I can't speak to the resort itself because I have not camped here, only fished. I have rented a fishing boat from them before and that was a very positive experience. If you're looking for a good day of trout fishing out on the lake, Crane Prairie is hard to beat in this area. It is open to fishing from April thru October. NOTE: All wild trout must be released! Please make sure to review the regulations beforehand.

Camped here several years ago (2014) when checking out a move to Bend. Easy fishing and pleasant campground on the lake. Clean baths and well-supplied store - even managed dinner after a last-minute decision to stop and stay!

The campground is good for dry camping. The sites are huge, mosquitoes are plentiful, lake is close by. Several of us kayaked with no issues. The lake appeared beautiful. A few of swam or floated casually in the water. All of us that entered the water for more than a few minutes got horrid cases of SWIMMERS ITCH! Horrible itching after leaving the water near the boat dock. Nothing made the itching stop. It was driving us crazy! After reading later, birds carry a parasite and it crawls into the skin of swimmers thinking we make a great host spot and our body rejects them. 5 days after leaving the water and we have tons or bumps covering our arms and legs. miserable! Kayaks and boats are great. Do not swim!! It should be posted that swimmers itch is active in this body of water. It would have saved me lots of scratching and heeby jeebies. Yuck! Parasites under your skin. ☹️

We drove around this lake as part of the Cascades Lake Scenic Tour. The area had had a lot of rain and snowfall and all the lakes were to the point of overflow. The areas were pristine and the water colors were incredible blue. Since the tourists had yet to invade, all the facilities were clean and well maintained. We stayed here and hour walking and driving around the area. Worth a look.

After a respite, we have returned to this body of water because it boasts the biggest trout in the area. It is an absolute delight to hook into 20 inch, 4 lb. rainbows that can pull the rod out of your hand. And you best be paying attention!~

We drove in and took several pictures of birds the lake and the area. Mountains all around. Fishing access to the lake is good

Ready to go camping? Here is a wonderful area to enjoy the out of doors. Some campgrounds in the area have cold cold cold water to pump out of the ground. Lots of areas where the springs of water just jump out of the ground.

Is the parasite in Crain prairie water all summer that causes swimmers itch. What lakes don't have it in the area?

No idea. I t was a normal swim session until we got out and couldn't stop itching. The rash started two days later. It's almost gone now, 11 days later. I was hoping they would post that they have it, so people would know. It was great for kayaking and boating though. None of the kayakers got it, just the floaters and swimmers. 😭
