Lots of great terrain to keep all skill levels happy. The ski lift operators did an awesome job of keeping the lift lines moving - very organized and efficient! Great snow!

Amazing mountain with dozens of runs of all difficulties and multiple lifts and lodges. 10 feet of powder fell while we were skiing over the week and it was incredible.

Poor infrastructure causes long lift lines. It’s the first week of April. Because Powdr corp and Mt bachelor is cost cutting, shutting down lifts for the season, not maintaining lifts so they are broken or running slowly on diesel, the lift lines this week have been 30 minutes long. If you come here on vacation, or plan to move there to ski just know that Powdr corp cares about their bottom line and not the experience of the skier. Most of the lifts are at or past the normal life span. If they break, no parts are available. This happened at the beginning of the year. A crucial lift, Skyliner, broke catastrophically and has not operated the whole winter. Outback ran slowly all year and now has been shut down for the rest of the season. Red chair is not running either. Northwest express opened late one day due to storm recovery. A term they use frequently because many times lifts do not open on time. When Northwest did open, there were 30 minute lines almost immediately. The days of skipping work for a couple of hours in the morning and getting five to ten runs in are over. I’ve driven up there many times anticipating some storm powder and just turned around because the lifts didn’t open, or the parking lot was full. Powdr corp is not refunding anything to passholders despite not operating the mountain at full capacity as one would expect when they purchase a pass early season. April is usually a time of short lift lines. It is still spring break for some and with the Ikon pass they are here skiing. Mt. Bachelor I’m sure knew crowds could be possible this week but chose to do nothing about it, they shut down many lifts for the season. The lift system needs serious updating so expect multiple chair maintenance issues if you come.

Mt Bachelor has always been a special place to me- it was my first exposure to the ski culture that left a lasting memory of joy for years. However...

My last trip to Mt Bachelor was so heart-wrenching...I couldn't believe that the lift ticket prices for one of my favorite mountains has soared to an outrageous $143, the wait for the lift lines was so long, and the snow conditions were poor! I expect this kind of experience from the corporate ski resorts, e.g. Jackson Hole, Vail, etc., but don't ruin Mt Bachelor! Although the staff was very helpful and friendly, IMO, Mt Bachelor simply doesn't have the amenities to charge these rates. Hoping that the Summit Express will open and getting a change to hurl yourself down the summit has been the draw for me, but after many disappointing visits, it has become an ever-fading memory for me. You are better off accepting that, although the weather seems clear and calm, the winds at the summit are too strong (the winds at the summit can be brutal) and it won't be running. Trust in this fact and you'll save yourself from the disappointment.

Sadly, after this experience, we all agreed that this will be the last time we make the 6 hr drive from Boise to ski at Mt Bachelor. The long drive plus the over-priced lift ticket given the poor snow condition, left us feeling that we got very little value that weekend. Especially, since there are several other ski resorts within a 6 hr drive of Boise that offer much better value.

Super nice people, good snow, no more than a 3 minute wait on a holiday weekend. Nice outdoor eating area, good groomed runs plus a variety of types of runs. Easy parking/friendly parking attendants (even to the person who parked blocking the throughway at the Sunrise drop off and didn't come back for 20 minutes). Mt. Bachelor is beautiful and the skiing and ammenties are great. (However if Bachelor has anything to do with Wanoga xc ski trails- boooooo to allowing fat bikes on the trails- rich entitled people that have bikes that cost way too much. They think they own the trails and want to tell everyone they see how they feel- I just want to go for a hike without a lesson from every gray haired man on a bike there).

Karlee at Pine Ridge Inn lent us 2 sleds and 1 dish and told us to go to Wenago Snow Park, 15 miles west of Bend. We finally found the slope and had more fun in 2H than any other 2H. Lots of parking and free usage of the park.
We stayed in a covered shelter while the others tried to walk up the slope and come down the lane.
I expected more people, given it was Christmas Day.
Everyone had more fun than they expected.

Powdr corp and Mt Bachelor has done it again.
1. They announced the sale of the Fast Tracks pass after the sale of season pass discount is over.
2. Imagine spending hundreds of dollars for a day of skiing with your family and a richer family that’s willing to spend a few hundred dollars more gets to skip the line ahead of you. 1% elitism at its best. Horrible messaging and usage of our public lands.
3. Outback chair ran at half speed for most of the year last year. Mt B was unwilling to fix it, which sucked due to long COVID lift lines, they needed all the help they could get.
4. As of now, December 14, there is over 3 feet of snow. After a slow and long awaited start, they are only opening red chair. No news as to why they aren’t opening up most of the mountain. When there’s no information, we can only assume the worst, that is they are screwing the passholders once again. Waiting for the Christmas crowds before they feel that it is worth it to open.
5. It seemed that Powdr corps was on the right track the last few years, but ultimately the corporate mentality and profits override the skiing experience. Please do not support this corporate agenda. Visit a smaller mountain that appreciates your business. Or a mega resort that actually caters to your needs. Not an overpriced, selfish, ski area that does minimal upgrades to its infrastructure that doesn’t care about perpetuating the sports of skiing and boarding. Doesn’t upgrade the lift system and power grid to survive cascade storms. You may come to ski and have the resort shut down for a few days.

This is strictly for our "Ziplining" experience.

Way overpriced for the amount of time you are on the zipline (2 short zip's and 1 lengthy one). Not sure if Bachelor is having trouble finding staff but you spend most of your time waiting rather than riding.

Understand "safety" but they stress you out soooo much about looking for signs for when to slow down, and always watch the staff for instructions for when to slow down, that you don't even get to enjoy the views. Get very upset if you come in too fast.

We've zip-lined in multiple places around the country and this was our least favorite mainly because of 1) not being able to relax and enjoy the views 2) over-priced, especially for the amount of time you spend ziplining 3) zipline time is very short

Tip: speed is controlled by the rider - on the last zipline, it kind of locks making you think you are pulling down at the maximum point. Pull down an extra notch for faster speed.

This would be good for a 1st time zipliner, or younger kids.

Our trip to Mt Bachelor was in late April 2021. My wife and I purchased the late-season pass, which was the best value we have ever found in over 40 years of skiing together. We had a great trip and we think that Mt Bachelor is probably about as good as it gets for a trip at this time of year. I

If you are considering a trip to Mt Bachelor, you need to understand that this is not a typical destination ski resort.

There is no lodging on or near the mountain. Most people who come from outside the area stay in Bend, Oregon, which is about 1/2 hour from the ski area. We did not find this to be a problem. We flew into Portland Oregon and rented a car and drove to Bend, where we stayed. The daily drive to the ski area was very pleasant. It is along a very scenic route. The road was bare and dry during our stay.

The first thing you should do when planning a trip to Mt Bachelor is reserve your parking (easily done from Mt Bachelor's web site). Do not buy a resort pass, plane tickets or reserve a room until you have reserved parking. It is clear from other reviews that parking can be a major problem during the high season. However, during our trip, parking was no problem at all and we were always able to park within a 1-2 minute walk to the lifts.

We skied from April 19-23, 2021.

The first three days were wonderful, blue-sky days. The temperatures during the day were above freezing and we had great corn snow skiing, particularly on the side of the mountain with the most direct sun exposure.

The third day was also a warm blue-sky day but it was a little windy. As a result, for much of the morning, they were only running two of the high speed chairs, the Sunrise lift near the parking lot and the Northwest lift, accessible only by hiking a considerable distance. We decided to stick with the Sunrise lift. It only has an 800-foot vertical rise. They slowed down the chair because of the wind. Also, because of the pandemic, most of the chairs were only loading two people. As a result, there was about a 10 minute line for most of the morning. A lot of people quit skiing because of this. Later in the day, however, they were able to open most of the other lifts. The afternoon was absolutely epic, with the best corn-snow skiing we have ever experienced.

The final day was partly cloudy and colder and the runs were pretty icy, so we quit after only a few runs and went back to Bend. It was by no means a lost day, however. We used this opportunity to have lunch at one of the micro-breweries in Bend, and we also went on a nice hike along the Deschutes River. Despite the poor skiing conditions, we still had a great day.

The vast majority of the mountain immediately accessible by the lifts consists of easy blue runs, and a few green runs. Most of the black runs below the summit chair are accessed from the Northwest chair lift. The resort does accurately state that there are runs off of 360 degrees of the summit (accessed by the Summit chair). Most of the black or double-black runs off of the summit are not groomed or regularly patrolled, so we did not ski any of these runs. There are several really nice blue runs off of the summit that are groomed. We usually skied these runs in the afternoon when the snow was softer. It was really fun to ski well-above the tree line on a dormant volcano!

Everyone who worked on the mountain was very helpful and courteous. Also, they are taking all of the appropriate measures to protect their staff and guests during the pandemic, such as loading only families or groups traveling together on their quad chairs.

To maximize your enjoyment on a ski trip to Mt Bachelor in the spring, you need to have realistic expectations and be flexible. Understand that you may be mostly skiing blue and green runs. Recognize that resort operations may be limited as a result of conditions, such as wind. Plan ahead for the possibility that some of your skiing days may not happen as planned. There are other activities in and around Bend to consider, such as hiking or fly fishing on the Deschutes or just walking around the charming downtown area and checking out their many fine restaurants. Our trip was not perfect, but it was still great fun, even on the day when we quit early due to icy conditions on the mountain.

In the future, Mt Bachelor will be at or near the top of our list for a mid to late spring skiing vacation.
