We have enjoyed skiing Mt. Bachelor on several occasions in the past 40 years. Now that we've retired our skis due to safety concerns with our aging bodies, we still enjoyed a visit to reminisce and enjoy the scenery and the vibe of the current skiers/snowboarders.
With the abundance of snow after years of drought and the beautiful sunshine, it was a perfect day for us to sightsee this beautiful place full of fond memories.

great place for high intermeadiate low advanced seniors

I am a season pass holder for the Nordic side of the mountain. My experiences are more than the snow and terrain, which are absolutely first class. They are about the employees. People like Maureen, Luke, Molly, and Greg who are so darned friendly. They immediately make you feel like a part of the 'family'. Each of them have gone out of their way to help me out. I want to give them a special shout out for their encouragement and assistance this season.

As many have noted, single day ticket prices have increased exorbitantly ($185 per person at ticket window). This incentivizes guests to buy passes or advance purchase on the Mt Bachelor website.
We chose the latter, and spent a total of $296 for two adults. Which included, $10 for the physical lift ticket cards.
However, since we are local and returning guests, we already have physical lift ticket cards and should not have been charged.
Rather than wait risk paying full price at the lift ticket window (an additional $43 per person), I paid the card charge assuming this could be easily resolved in person at the mountain. Sadly I was WRONG.
At the mountain I was told, the incorrect charges could be due to a few common scenarios:
1. Having multiple profiles (which are not visible to guests)
2. Incorrectly proceeding with the default checkout selection, of a new lift pass card.
In either scenario, guests are out of luck and the lift ticket card charge is not refundable. Allegedly this goes to a mountain donation fund that supports Sustainability. While I’m not opposed to supporting sustainable outdoor practices, I do have an issue with predatory website design that does not make donation a choice to guests.
To be clear, this is predatory, intentional, revenue generating website design that is taking advantage of mountain guests. I find this practice despicable, and should be investigated.

I've been in the ski industry for almost all of my adult life, and to be frank I have never seen such a horribly run UNSAFE SKI RESORT. You have to sign a waiver that you will not sue them before you can buy a lift ticket. Now tell me would you feel safe riding a lift or skiing a resort after that????????. They do ZERO trail maintenance with saplings growing up in all the runs, and fallen tree with split off branches in the glades to implale you with life threatening wounds. I've sent pictures to management/patrol and they do nothing. I've included a picture of a tree that just snapped endangering skiers on the mtn two weeks ago and they have done nothing. This tree will kill someone and it's just teitering on falling. And they have had several deaths on the mountain recently, wouldn't that scare the hell out of you?????.
And all the intermediate terrain is turned into snow parks where they don't mark the jumps and ridges like most resorts do so people don't get hurt.....

We used to spend every Christmas here 10-12 years ago. After coming back this year, we have been met by the familiar tough Bachelor weather, cold and windy - but also with lots of fresh snow. Staff is still friendly and does their best to keep lifts open even in very windy conditions. The new Cloudchaser lift can be kept open when even Pine Marten and Outback are on wind hold, and offers very decent terrain. New EV charging spots are great.
The only thing which needs improvement is the technology. We were left stranded at the base of a closed chair lift because we trusted the on-screen lift status which showed it being open. And IKON pass website fails with an assortment of error messages when trying to get a buddy ticket.

What happened to Mt Bachelor? My family and I have been skiing there for years and this year was a shock to say the least. First of all the price increase on lift tickets were outrageous and the strategy to get more money from priority parking and fast track is ridiculous. We ordered our tickets online and when we got there one ticket out of five didn’t work. When we went to the ticket booth to fix it, there was only one out of six windows was open with a long line. Multiple people were having the same problem with not working tickets. Very pricey to pay those prices to stand in a long line to get it resolved. After finally getting the ticket resolved and getting on the mountain, we stopped in the Pine Martin Lodge for a quick bite to eat and warm up. We learned the upstairs was closed and they were only offering sit down dinning only, what?!? It used to be a wonderful family lodge to get a quick bite to eat and warm up. From the staff, I heard management had some turn over so looks like that is the issue. It’s really sad what the new management is doing, Mt Bachelor used to be a fun family oriented and affordable ski area.

Was awesome. Now thanks to Ikon pass holders it’s an absolute sh*t show. If you want to come up, awesome, buy a day pass from the mountain. If you have an ikon pass, stick to mammoth with the rest of the clowns.

If you're looking for mountain biking, you're in the right place! If you're looking for scenic hiking up the chairlift, not so much. The chairlift goes half way, not all the way to the top (which is still snowy). It's not really set up for hiking. There are better hikes in the Cascades Lakes area just beyond.

Where is the best place to rent skis? It sounds like the rental area at Bachelor can take an hour or more? We are staying in sunriver.

I went there twice last year and there really wasn’t much of a queue or line to get fitted at all. I was in and out in like 15 mins. So I cannot attest to claims that it takes a long time to pickup your rentals, especially if you reserve online ahead of time and give them all your height/weight info and prepay. You can pretty much rent skis from any outfitter in Bend proper for less money and maybe more convenience, if that is your base.

I can't speak for their summer hours, but in Winter the answer is YES. But like other folks have said, why not get a great breakfast in Bend and then the easy drive up to the hill.

Normally yes, but it has been a light snow year! I would call in advance to confirm if they will be open! Ordinarily great powder skiing if they are open!

Sunriver Resort has a morning shuttle to Mt. Bachelor. If you stay there, then you can also walk to the lodge for meals or to the Village. The resort also has a free shuttle that will take you to the village that has a brewery and other restaurants, stores.

Absolutely. Bachelor has incredible Nordic Skiing facility/trails for all levels and abilities. The high schools have Nordic Team competition on a weekly basis with kids that have never been on skis before. I believe that you would find it amazing. You should also check out the dog sled operation. My wife has done it twice and loves it.

Yes, Mt Bachelor does do tours of the mountain for skiers/snowboarders. You can sign up for an orientation tour from the concierge desk on the second floor of the West Village Lodge.

I'm taking my husband for a surprise ski trip over New Years and am staying at SunRiver. What do I need to know about getting him passes ahead of time and getting shuttle service to the mountain? I don't ski at all but I am hoping to make this an awesome trip for him. He's never boarded or skied Bachelor before as we are not from the area.
