Loved floating on and strolling to town on this river! Easy access if you have your own float - we rented from Tumalo Creek.

The river is beautiful.
We floated the river twice. We brought our own tubes but paid for the transportation at park and float.
We floated the river with young children. The river is nice and calm in town. The kids didn’t have any issues while floating.
Highly recommended.

Enjoyed tubing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding on the river. We did all our rentals from Tumalo Creek rentals, who are very helpful and friendly.

Took a guided fishing trip with Fly and Field Outfitters. It was an awesome trip with good friends, great fishing, and exceptional customer service by the guide team. A special shout out to guide Justin Francis! He was patient and very knowledgeable making it a great experience!

Deschutes River is an Oregon treasure. Whether you are rafter, hiking, biking, camping, picnicking or simply traveling on a road trip. Along the Deschutes River you will find numerous pull outs for hiking and several campgrounds.
If it is your destination I suggest late spring or early fall. Summer find the area packed with locals and tourist.
The river is clear and certainly worth of a trip to visit.

order rafts on amazon and drop them on the river. such easy family fun. couldn't recommend this experience more!

I'd really rate this as a level 1 float. It was very calm and our group had fun. Little but of congestion by the fish ladder but we made it thru.

What an amazing recreation area. With the river sectioned off for children and adults to use their flotation devices, and another area for surfers to enjoy the man made wave, WOW.
Excellent signage for everyone to know what to do. Great loacation.

Are there places on the Deschutes river that rent self-guided tours? If so, where? How strong is the current?

No guided tours for the float down this section of the river. You just follow the other “floaters”. The river is safe, current slow and the experience absolutely wonderful!

You can rent paddle boards and the current is mild. You’d don’t have to go anywhere near the rapids
