This is more a rocky, gravely beach than a sandy beach, and your calves will get a workout, but it's lovely. Not usually many people. Great for rockhounds. Small tide pools with crabs, starfish, and anemones. Beach access is pretty easy, and there's ample parking. Low tide recommended. You can walk a good distance in either direction.

McVay beach is listed on the "sea glass" registry. (sea glass is actually glass from bottles and what not that has been tumbled by the ocean) I look for sea glass on every trip to the coast. The only thing to remember is the beach is not a sandy beach. It is gravel so wear shoes.

There is parking for about 10 cars. Like most beaches in Oregon, The paths to the beaches are steep.The rewards are worth it.

This was really enjoyable for us. Glad we got out of the car and wondered down to the beach. Parking was easy, not so sure you should try a wheelchair here though.

We went to McVay Rock state Recreation site yesterday. It is really cool! The beach is nice. There are nice rocks to climb. The beach is excellent for finding cool little rocks. There is an old redwood tree trunk on the beach to climb on. It’s really cool!

I was ready to visit the McVay Rock State Recreation Site.
Once we were on the beach, we saw that the sand was grey.
There were lots of rocks on the ocean. we could jump from rock to rock.
There was a massive boulder in the ocean as well.
Behind the beach there were plants and trees.
It was fun to jump from rock to rock.
Worthwhile to see!

This is a cool place to bring your dog and walk the beach. Not really a beach for lounging, as it is rocky. But that just makes it more fun to explore - most of the rocks are polished. You may even find some sea glass.

This was a favorite for us because we like to beachcomb and our kids built a fort out of driftwood. Lots of beautiful polished rocks and we found seaglass even though it was high tide. Bring a hat because the wind will give you and ear ache and Be careful for the waves, they will sneak up on you, but if you're watchful it was a very fun spot for all of us.

Beautiful State Park. The beaches here have breathtaking views. Low tide pools are fun to explore. Close to Jedediah Smith Redwoods. Noise from the mill nearby takes some adjusting too.

It is a nice quiet place. Nothing spectacular about it. Perfect place to have a quiet moment alone. I looked for some glass pebbles but didn't find any.

Go down to the harbor and there is a great public beach where the RV park is. Handicap parking and ramps right down to the sand!

Both trails are to the right of the circle parking lot. The "easier one is further south. It does have 3 steps with the last step being about a foot and a half tall. The trail has a few narrow areas with a couple tripping hazards like tree roots. But it is a shorter less steep option. We were there 2 days ago. It was so nice and we found 10 pieces of sea glass. Yay!
