Oregon's Largest Monterrey Cypress is located by Brookings, Oregon's small museum. It is best to park across the street or by the museum as there is not a good place to park by the tree. The tree is a beautiful spot to enjoy seeing the ocean in the distance and get some fresh air.
If the museum is open (usually on weekends) it may be enjoyable to see some of the rustic items from an earlier life in Brookings.

You'll see this huge Monterey Cypress right along side of Highway 101 on Museum Road in Harbor, Oregon. Not only is is worth your while to stop and pay your respects to this old monarch, but the historic Chetco Valley Museum is just up the lane in the old Blake House. A worthwhile visit. Orville Dodge called the Chetco Valley the prettiest valley on the whole of the Oregon coast. The museum is full of artifacts from the nine villages of the first peoples who lived along the Chetco River, as well as pioneer artifacts, tools, relics and other fascinating treasures from the earliest of times in the Chetco Valley.

I had never seen such a cypress in my life. Wow!
It had lots of branches and its leaves were healthy.
This is the largest Monterrey Cyprus in Oregon.
Harrson G. Blake built his house nearby this cypress in 1850
I was amazed by this beautiful huge Cypress. Wow!

This is so easy to see also. It's right off the highway, and there is a short loop that takes you to a safe place to park, get out and enjoy this amazing tree, and take some photos. Then get back in your car and in a couple of seconds you're back on the highway.

Doesn't cost anything but 2 minutes to see. You can see it from 101 in either direction, so merely peering left or right will suffice

First it says it's the largest in the world... then it says it's the largest in Oregon...
Well... it was a tree. The museum associated with it maybe be more worthwhile. We did stop and visit the tree but... it wasn't amazing.

Every couple of years my wife has to stop by here and take a picture or 2. It's easy to get to, just a little south as you get into Brookings/Harbor on the east side of Hwy 101.

Cool to look at but no parking and in a guys yard. Big tree but that's about it. It was hard to find on the google maps due to the location and there isn't any clear signs advertising.

This is one magnificent cypress tree. Planted in the 1850's by one of the areas original settlers, the tree is in wonderful condition, strong and healthy looking. You can see it from hwy. 101, but if you pull off the road at the "Chetco Museum" sign you can park right next to it. Someone mentioned not being able to park close-by -- not the case. Park in the museum lot, or drive up a small dirt road just before the museum and park by the tree. Really worth the stop to see this handsome old man!

It's an easy pull off from Hwy 101, on the southern edge of Brookings. Tree is precariously close to road cut so don't know how much longer it will last before it topples over onto Museum Road.
