We spent a delightful hour or so here sampling pinot noir. The place is beautiful - a well-appointed tasting room in a restored railroad station on Main Street. Our servers were friendly and very knowledgeable - sharing details of each wine we sampled. We all agreed that the Ken Wright wines weren't our favorites in the valley. Still, we're glad we visited.

I have already forgotten the name of the two ladies who were there during my visit but they were both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wines, as well as the history of Ken Wright Cellars. I loved hearing about the history and also about the artwork of the labels - the art is truly stunning! It was also fascinating to hear about the falconry and its use. This was a really pleasant and enlightening experience, highlighted by the fabulous wines and a delectable charcuterie board, all located in a restored railroad depot.

The selection of wines was excellent, our guide was very knowledgeable and made this a very enjoyable tasting. The location is wonderful, a lovingly restored railroad station.

Ken Wright is heralded as a founder of the Oregon Willamette Valley Pinot movement.
His tasting room in downtown Carlton is in the old train station and has both an outside covered patio and a landscaped backyard area though we chose to stay in the air conditioned inside (105 degrees day).
The tasting list and almost all of Ken Wright's wines are single vineyard Pinot Noir selections. The terroir of each single vineyard yield noticeably different flavors to the wines.
There is a $20 tasting fee per person which is refundable with $100 purchase of wines- since most of the pinots are priced at $62, it is fairly easy to make your tasting free.
Our server was very friendly and helpful clarifying the different regions where the single vineyards are located. Upon completing the tasting menu, I inquired about a single vineyard not on the tasting menu and was given a taste from that vineyard.

We came to Oregon for Pinot Noir wine tasting. On our last day in this area we went to Golden Valley Brewery for lunch. We asked our server John for some recommendations. He gave us three locations and said that if we were only going to one that Ken Wright is the best there is. He was not wrong.
After visiting nine wineries we hit the jackpot! First of all, our Host Jansen was fabulous. He has an extensive knowledge of the wines and his explanations made me want to immediately taste the wines. He recommended a cheese he liked and even got it and some crackers for us to enjoy and it was perfectly matched with the wine. The wines were delicious and Jansen was fabulous. We were happy that we stopped there and will forever remember this stop. We will also remember Ken Wright as a choice for some really good, reliable wine in the future. Of course we rated this winery #1 out of our 10 wineries, hands down!!

We made an advance reservation for a tasting. When we arrived Zach greeted us at the door making us feel important. He welcomed us to the tasting facility, asked us which seating area we preferred and let us pick a table to occupy. He then explained the tasting process to us and provided us with a tasting list and a map of the various vineyards. Each tasting was poured individually at our table along with a narrative from Zach regarding the variety of grape and background history on the specific vineyard producing the grapes. Zack was very knowledgeable and personable and made the experience very enjoyable along with the fine wine. It was interesting to learn that all of their wines are single vineyard wines giving each one a unique personality. The tasting experience was truly unique and exceptional. Carlton is a very quaint little town with some nice restaurants and several additional tasting rooms and worth spending some quality time there. When we finished the tasting we asked Zach for restaurant recommendations, phoned in an order to The Horseradish, picked up our order and returned to our table to enjoy the great sandwiches and more fine wines. We highly recommend a visit to Ken Wright Cellars in Carlton, Oregon.

Our favorite wine tasting! Wines were great: we loved every single one we tried! We love the labels, too! Plus, Carrie told us the back-stories about the vineyards and owners to share their passion for wine making and community leadership. All around top notch experience and we joined the wine club to keep these fantastic wines coming!

We recently scheduled a "virtual wine tasting" with Ken Wright Cellars and it was an incredible experience! This was a special event for a birthday celebration and while we would have loved to go in person, J'Aime and the team at Ken Wright Cellars did an amazing job with the virtual event. From organizing shipments to our friends in over 8 different states to unique touches in our wine shipments (birthday hats, charades games, candy bars), they really went above and beyond. If you are looking to taste some amazing wines and gain some wine knowledge information, all from the safety and comfort of your own home, then definitely look into their virtual tasting experiences. The wines are also top-notch and our group ended up ordering a case and a half after the event. Kudos all around for the team and this experience! We look forward to visiting in person when we can!

We love the wines and the sweet people who work here - it’s by far our favorite winery in the valley! And Carlton is such a cute town, too!

We visited in October 2020 on a weekday afternoon. They were accepting visitors without reservations, which we appreciated. Their outdoor set-up, beneath the canopy of what appeared to be an old train station in downtown Carlton, OR, was very nice—well-distanced tables and a couple of fire pits for warmth.
The wines were far from our favorite in the region, despite the relative prestige of the winery.
The tasting experience left something to be desired compared to others we experienced in the region. Staff seemed distracted by other things and did not say much about the wines. There were also long waits between the pours despite there being no crowd. The staff then kind of disappeared as we were ready to pay for our tastings and leave, which led to more of a delay. We were not in a particular hurry but the lack of service was notable compared to other places we tasted.
