We didn't make the whole loop but walked for 3 waterfalls: Starvation Creek Falls (just 5 minutes of the partking lot), then going West on Starvation Ridge Trail # 414 to see Cabin Creek Falls and continue our walk toward Hole in the Wall Falls. All 3 are wonderful to see and experience to photograph. There are restrooms by the parking lot at Starvation Creek Falls and picnic table with bances at the Hole in the Fall Falls. The trail is shady, nicely paved and pleasant to walk. It took us about 1 hr 15 minutes to see all of them without hurry!

I would recommend this hike for those seeking easy access to see beautiful waterfalls. Though some of the paved road/wide path travels along I 84, it quickly moves into a sheltered area. The accessibility makes it ideal for wheelchairs. There are restrooms and ample parking off of the interstate. There is also a trailhead that does the loop which is an easy to moderate hike, but it is not wheelchair accessible. There are signs that are well marked in the parking area to guide.

Disclaimer: we did not do the entire loop. But it is not necessary to do the entire loop to get some great pics. The falls are near the parking lot. If you walk the path from Starvation falls parking lot towards Viento state park you will find lots of areas to grab beautiful pics of the gorge. The walk is very easy through this section.

A pretty loop that has a waterfall as a highlight. I was here on a very hot day and was grateful that much of the trail, at least in the late afternoon, is well shaded by an abundance of tree cover. The waterfall was really pretty.

Trail is steep and narrow switchbacks right away. Rock is loose, make sure you have hiking shoes. Once you have finished the climb and catch your breath, you'll be on top with great views of the gorge. On your way down, more loose rock and narrow trail. Three great waterfalls make this worth your time. About 1 hour to do the loop.

We wanted to see the falls, but none of the signs near the parking told us exactly what to expect. So we bundled up for the cold and wind and headed off...only to encounter the falls a few dozen yards from our car. Easy paved path with big bridge. The trail will take you to some breathtaking views, but you could easily view the falls from a handicapped accessible path a stone's throw from the parking lot.

Rustic rough hike with an awesome falls view...not hard at all for the first 150 yards, to the picnic area, from which the falls is visible, but after that, you'd better have some good hiking shoes because the terrain becomes challenging from there. It was fun anyway, and the kids enjoyed the rough climb to an even better view.

After this hike I truly felt like I accomplished something. As a sort of experienced weekend hiker I found this one to be one of the most challenging hikes for a couple of reasons. First, since we did the hike clock wise as recommended I definitely felt the immediate steep elevation gain with the narrow path and loose rocks raise my heart rate. Second, the balancing on the log river crossing was more of a mental challenge for me since by that time my legs were a little shaky and although the log wasn't high above the creek and you probably wouldn't get terribly injured if you fell off, I still felt like I was in a movie and that my life depended on good balance. I was happy to make it across successfully.
I highly recommend reading the notes on the trails.gorgefriends.org site before attempting this hike which is how we learned to do it clock wise. It seemed like we were the only ones who had this knowledge, everyone else was going counter clock wise and 3 out of the 4 people we encountered had bloody knees or elbows from falling on the loose rocks. And this was before they even got to the steep part that we went up which they were now going to be going down. This didn't seem safe at all since one fall on that part of the trail would send you over a cliff which is not a good way to get in touch with the trees.
The waterfalls were amazing and you can pretty much walk right up to them and say hi. The views afforded a great opportunity to catch your breath and admire the majestic Columbia Gorge below. So, bring your favorite water bottle, wear your best shoes and tackle this strenuous hike and if you make it without falling consider yourself lucky.
