We were on vacation and found this along the way. Very well-kept place. Staff were very friendly. We waited to take a ride on the train which is free (donations accepted) which gave us a small overview of the park. All the trains are miniature that you ride. They also have 1:1 examples of equipment on the property. It was a very pleasant morning. Children will especially love this place.

This was actually my second visit, but my wife wasn't with me the first time. This time, we were actually going to Crater Lake, but traffic was backed up, so we turned around and came here instead. This is a 7.5" gauge miniature ride on railroad with over 25 miles of mainline rail. Not all of it is used for public rides, but there is plenty to keep you amused and amazed! The line is dotted with to scale buildings, factories, villages, and towns as well as full sized railroad rolling stock, mostly cabooses.
The line has hand throw and automatic switches that take you to different parts of the park and also uses a working signal system that keeps trains at a safe distance from each other and assures switches are properly lined.
There is always a cool selection of locomotives in use to pull you around the park. Our engineer on both visits was David Savage, who begins by explaining the park and being safe while riding. He also stopped later to explain the switches and signals.
There are generally enough engineers to take you on a few rides through different areas if you have the time.
There are also static displays of vintage standard gauge railroad equipment, some of which are open to go in and check out, and there are picnic tables to chill on, and eat anything you may have brought.
The trains are small, so it is imperative that you do not move around too much and that kids remain seated.
There is no charge to enter or ride, but don't be a cheapskate; make sure to leave a donation in the box outside the office door!
This is an amazing place for both kids and adults.

Fascinating outdoor railroad museum specializing in 7-1/2" ridable miniature hobby railroad. This type of gauge railroad is what Walt Disney had at Carolwood. We also loved seeing the amazing old Steam Punk railroad sized snow blowers...so incredible in scale and form. Several were open to us climbing in them and seeing how absolutely huge they are and how difficult they were to operate. We found the staff so friendly and knowledgeable and the property is beautiful and well maintained. Recommended for all railroad fans.

What an incredible project. Many, many days of hard labor and much money donated by kind folks. The place is just like a Class I commercial railroad but smaller.
The ride and admission are free and the people are wonderful plus helpful. Absolutely worth the trip. Check out the days & hours before planning a trip. Wonderful place!

What a fantastic place for train-lovers and explorers of all ages! The staff are mostly volunteers, and my goodness, they are so passionate and knowledgeable about trains and model building. We really didn't know what to expect, but everyone had a blast! We were able to take a ride on a large model-train around miles of track that circled the property. Along the way, we saw model buildings and pretty scenery. The ride took probably 15-20 minutes, which was amazing considering it was FREE! The site operates by donation only. Afterward, we took a look at some of the real historic train cars and ate our picnic lunch in their lovely playground area. Everything is so well cared for and the staff could not be kinder. We were grateful to chat with Mr. and Mrs. Ward, who just left us smiling all day. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

We were staying in the area to see Crater Lake and saw a sign for this randomly. We never knew it was here otherwise! So, the morning that we left, we left a little early and spent an hour here as our son loves trains!
To preface it, at the time, our twins were a little over 15 months old so barely walking (well) and not about learning anything. So our experience was probably considerably less than someone else's would be. We only went to one little section and walked around. But it didn't seem like there was much else to go to. Perhaps there were things further away, hidden in the trees or something but you'd see a little thing here and then one or two things over there but everything was so spread out and with little kids and little time, nothing really made sense to go and explore. Perhaps older kids/adults or people with a lot of time would get more enjoyment out of this attraction or have the time to go and find everything but we had no idea where to start.

This place was awesome! I loved it. My kids loved it. If you don’t visit here you are missing out! I would recommend calling before visiting to make sure they are open. Current hours are 10-3 M-F until October.

There is a self-guided tour of the full size train cars on the property. The train tour is in a 1/8th scale train that rides on some of the 37 miles of track. The train goes by villages, signs, water towers, mill, etc that are on a scale of 2":1'. There is a picnic area with playground. It is all forested and beautiful. It is run by volunteers and just asks for a donation. Plus the business participates in the Harvest Host program. There isn't an actual museum...it is all outside.

It's really bad, everything is closed and has been closed for 6 months.... though they didn't update anything on the website. Drove 100 miles to visit, web site says 10-2 m-f. Got there at 11 and everything is locked up. Called and asked, a woman told us its closed and doesn't know when or if they'll ever open... when we told them they should update the website, she actually hung up on us!!! They obviously don't care and were so rude we will never ever go back.

We are very sorry for the unfortunate experience and disappointment these people had. We appreciate the fact that they travelled 100 miles to get here, too! To explain the period of closure, it was necessary for Train Mountain to close in March 2020 as required by the Oregon Governor's Executive Orders regarding COVID-19. The restrictions and guidelines did not permit us to reopen to visitors until the beginning of March 2021, almost a full year later. Because many listings on the internet are not posted by us, including certain search engine results, social media pages and even Google listings, we cannot update them and have no control over them. With the COVID-19 changes (which are sometimes rapid), our official websites may or may not include up to date information. For this reason and because the COVID-19 guidance can quickly change,, we strongly recommend calling the Train Mountain office before attempting to visit and especially before making any long drives. Doing so will help prevent similar disappointments and upsets.

An awesome train experience, for kids and grown-ups alike (I'm 72). The effort that folks have made to create this facility over more than 30 years shows their passion for trains. Great trains, large and small, set in gorgeous scenery.

Is there always is someone there during the week and you can get rrain rides?
撰写日期:2016年3月2日
Visitors are usually welcome at Train Mountain.
You don't actually get "rides." "Rides" would imply an amusement park which this is not.
You will likely be offered a "tour" by a member.
This is a club. Anyone with an interest can join, but you don't have to join to come see what is going on.
So, if there are members around, especially if they are headed out on a run, you are likely to be offered a free tour.
Some tours take 45 minutes, some take 6 hours, so ask your club member what he has in mind.
Of course, donations are most welcome! This place is BIG and needs lots of manpower (almost all volunteer) and donations to keep it going. (This is the largest model railroad in the world.)
If you check the website, you'll find some work weeks and meet weeks scheduled. These are the busier weeks, so you'll be more likely to get a tour.
On other weeks it may be hit or miss in terms of getting a tour! It may be good to call in advance to gauge the level of activity and chances of getting a tour.
Even if you don't get a tour, the place is interesting and there is much to walk around and see.
