The civic-minded residents of Columbia City, and the St. Helens VFW, have built and maintained this small tribute to veterans. It is just off US 30, halfway between Deer Island and St. Helens. It includes the Coast Guard among veterans, which is appropriate, since my father commanded a CG patrol boat on the Columbia River, not far from here, during WWII.

Take a few minutes on your Hwy. 30 trip through Oregon to get out of your car, stretch your legs and enjoy this beautifully maintained small town park dedicated to American Veterans. We did just that on our recent trip from Bellevue, WA to Beaverton, OR. We have permanently ditched I-5 for the more leisurely trip down Hwy. 30. This is a new park which was dedicated on May 15th of 2015. There are some interesting things to learn from the interpretive signs and plaques.
