Love the museum! Very courteous and helpful. New exhibit of "Healing Hands" just opened. Tells the story of healthcare in Coos County. So many artifacts of the past to put a tangible twist on the storytelling. Could have done without the pandemic jingle playing on the radio on a continuous loop. Achoo!

Stopped because of an all day rain. Nice size and surprisingly interesting. Many local museums go into way to much details .

I love checking out the history of towns that we visit when camping. Coos Bay has this wonderful museum that documents all of the events of the founding of the city and all the events that formed its being. Lots of displays showing artifacts and a timeline of how Coos Bay became an important harbor, lumber shipping center, etc. We spent at least 2 hours viewing all the displays.

I thought it was very interesting to learn about all the people and things they did long ago. My 18 year old daughter didn't really like it but loved the gift shop.

This is a smallish museum covering local coos bay history. A little of everything is here. Small exhibits cover the logging, fishing, and indigenous Indian tribes. But I particularly enjoyed the transportation section. The mosquito fleet, a name used to describe the boats and ferrys that transported people and goods is interesting study. The entrance fee is $7.00. It took about 1 hour to explore this museum. Recommended.

This is a gem for a sunny day as well. Nicely done museum with three themes displayed throughout. Interesting pictures and explanatory information. Wonderful resource for the area and for visitors.

About 49 people and 2 dogs went on a history hike around coos bay last saturday. Lots of interesting facts about the area . Steve Grief of the coos history museum led the hike telling stories at various stops along the way Such as Front street used to ber the main business district. That is until a fire pretty much leveled front street. The fire started at 1 end of the block and the fire department at that time was right next to the building where it started. Unfortunately the department was built on the wooden docks so the fire truck fell into the bay.

Staff was friendly. Lots of reading. Loved reading about the Native tribes. Wish that they had received better treatment. I also liked seeing the wood samples of Red and White Cedar, Myrtle wood, Douglas Fir and maple. Spent about 2 and 1/2 hours reading and looking

This is a very well put together museum. We really enjoyed the local history and would highly recommend visiting.
This is not a big museum yet they have packed it full of local history and information from past to present giving a great insight into local life.
Make time to visit.
The staff were fantastic and so helpful.
