This is another very good winery. We were charged $40 for the required advance reservation, which was refunded upon our arrival at the winery. Their $28 tasting fee is waived with a minimum purchase of 3 bottles of wine. We were warmly welcomed at the door, given a wine glass with our first taste and ushered to a table for our tasting. The table was already set up, and even had our name posted on it. After tasting a Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and two Pinot Noirs, we asked about their Sauvignon Blanc. We were offered a sample and we liked it so much, we bought 3 bottles! This was a very pleasant tasting experience with a very knowledgeable Sokol Blosser employee who was able to easily answer our questions. The staff at Sokol Blosser are very service oriented without being overwhelming. We highly recommend this winery for a tasting experience.

We had high expectations from everything we read during our research and were excited to visit. We were seated in the original (older) tasting room. Doors were wide open which permitted the many, many bugs to enter and create a very disturbing and uncomfortable tasting. This was our last winery to visit in our 4 day stay and we did not encounter an army of bugs like this anywhere else. Also we were handed tasting 'notes' along with beakers of our tasting selections with little to no input from our attendant. With the attack of bugs we couldn't enjoy the wines! A very disappointing tasting!!

Sokol Blosser was our first tasting of Day 2 in the Willamette Valley and I had the least expectations for the visit of the four wineries we chose to visit based on mixed reviews I had read.

The facility is obviously fairly new, attractive and quite large. You are greeted as you enter and ushered (possibly due to covid precautions) to a table completely segregated from other tasters. Reservations are supposedly required though it appeared some groups walked in without and were served. In our case we were taken downstairs into a room which had about four or five tables none of which were at first occupied. Eventually two other groups joined us downstairs.

The tasting itself was unlike any we have ever done in that the staff person had four small carafes already poured with the wines we would be tasting and it basically became a do it yourself tasting. Personally, I miss the banter that comes with winery staff visiting your table with each different varietal. Tastings are $28 per person for four tastes. Tasting fees are refunded with the purchase of three bottles (presumably, per person). We did request an additional taste of their chardonnay which was not on the summer tasting menu and the server graciously brought it. The summer menu included a sauvignon blanc, rose of pinot noir and two vineyard pinot noirs. Personally didn't care for sauvignon blanc; the chardonnay was good as well as the vineyard Pinots.

We visited Sokol Blosser 10 years ago when they were just a small tasting room. There may not have been more than a couple stools at a bar. Maybe no stools. Now, there is a beautiful tasting room with gorgeous seating areas, comfortable seats, and shade against the summer sun.

If you will be touring the region for wine tasting, I highly recommend making a reservation a couple weeks in advance. Spots were limited in the day we wanted to come and we felt lucky to get a spot. There is a $40 non-refundable fee that gets applied to your purchases on the day, so know for sure that you will make it. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were greeted with a DELICIOUS sparkling wine (we bought 3 bottles…so good!).

During the summer of 2021, Sokol Blosser is offering their 50th anniversary tasting, which we chose to enjoy. There are other tasting/by the glass options, as well as food. We will definitely be returning to sample their menu. The anniversary tasting is guided by the winemakers and the Sokol Blosser family vía YouTube videos. This was an interesting way to have wines introduced. We could have done without the ads that came with the videos. We enjoyed all of the wines included in the tasting. When we were done, I asked to try another. The assistant manager then brought out two more varieties for us to try and talked to us about some of the processes involved in the different wines and the history of the winery. He was GREAT and helped make the experience really nice. We purchased six bottles of wines and our tasting fees were waived.

We will absolutely return to Sokol Blosser. There is a good variety of reds and whites to try, including some unique varieties and tasty bubbling wines. The view is amazing and you are literally in the middle of the vineyard. If you go to only one winery while in the area or passing through, make it this one.

We live locally and have enjoyed the view and wines of Sokol Blosser for some years. We did not know reservations were required, but that now seems to be the standard in the area which is probably a good thing as crowds in the past could be crazy and always unpredictable. We were given the option, however, of buying individual glasses of wine and still enjoying the scenary at a picnic table and many were open. We did that and shared tastes so it worked well for us indirectly.

We also brought some cheese and meat with us which again we use to do in the past. We purchased 6 glasses of wine total for 3 of us but were informed, after we were drinking and eating, that no outside food is allowed. This food policy, in our opinion, only reflects excessive financial greed from a company that does not need to require only food from their limited menu. It's really disappointing to say the least.

We had a terrific experience tasting 6 different wines here (and left with as many bottles!). The staff was very accommodating when we had to change the time of our reservation and welcomed us on a deck where we could bring our dog. We'll definitely be back.

Coming from the midwest we've been fortunate to visit Oregon's wine country multiple times. Each trip we look for different wineries to visit, so many great ones. We have been Sokol Blosser members for three years now and have never been disappointed. The shipments, the in-person visits for tastings, the view from the tasting room and more. Friendly people on staff always willing to educate you in the wine making process. We visit every trip here and will continue to do so. We would definitely recommend a visit.

On a recent trip to the Willamette Valley for wine tasting, I was attracted to Sokol Blosser after reading a lot of good things about their wines, and I was also attracted to their modern tasting room with a nice Scandinavian design that seemed unique in the area. Unfortunately, we had a pretty negative experience with a fly-infested tasting that made it difficult to appreciate the wines.

When we made our reservation, we signed up for the Reserve Tasting, which included four pinot noirs and rosé of pinot noir. At the time, when signing up for the tasting, you also had to put down a $40 non-refundable deposit which goes toward the tasting fee and any food you purchase, which I wasn’t a big fan of, simply because it made the whole thing basically non-cancellable, even with reasonable notice. Along with reserving two Reserve Tastings, I also chose the focaccia bread as a food add-on that would be ready for us when we arrived.

Upon arriving at the winery for our tasting, we went into the main tasting building and were promptly escorted to a smaller second building with a tasting room. The building we were in was nice, and definitely better than the seating that they also currently offer in an outdoor tent. The tasting room had a very Scandinavian sort of treehouse feel to it, and our table had a great view overlooking the hills and vineyards.

The host for our tasting was nice, and he promptly brought over the rosé as our first wine to sample, and our focaccia was ready soon after (it was very good). After that, he came over periodically to pour each of the pinot noirs and gave a brief description of each, although he didn’t really spend much time with us or go into much detail. I felt like even after having done a full tasting at Sokol Blosser, I still didn’t really know much about the winery itself or the wines. It was kind of a bland tasting experience.

I generally liked the wines, but didn’t love them, and would have come out of it with a generally more neutral/positive viewpoint if it had not been for the fruit flies that ruined our tasting. I’m not sure why this was the case, but the room we were in was absolutely infested with fruit flies throughout our tasting, to the point that there were probably hundreds on our table, in the air, and flying all around and into our wine glasses. What made it even worse was that the winery was insisting on having one of the exterior doors open at all times (I guess for ventilation?) which just brought even more flies in. The host did notice and apologize for the fly infestation, but there wasn’t much he could do about it. He brought over some items we could use to cover our glasses in between sips, but the constant presence of the flies was just gross and made it virtually impossible to enjoy the tasting. We finished the tasting and left as soon as we could, just to get away from the flies.

In general, the Sokol Blosser experience and their wines in general felt very ‘vanilla’ to me – nothing outstanding, but also nothing bad, in a perfectly nice setting. However, with the introduction of flies everywhere during our tasting, we couldn’t help but not enjoy the experience.

Do not recommend! When planning our trip to Oregon Wine Country I knew that the one winery I wanted to go back to was Sokol Blosser. We visited the winery a couple of years ago and I loved the wine even though the service was a bit lacking. When I made our reservations for this time around a few weeks out I did not expect that they would try to seat us at a metal table and chairs in the full sun on a 95+ degree day. All of the other customers were seated with some level of shade, our table being the only one in the full sun. In fact the lady helping seat customers did acknowledge that we were at a “hot table”. I watched her put our wine tastings and food in the hot sun...the wine was going to cook. When I asked to be moved the winery was unwilling to accommodate, even though other groups were being seated in the shade. What they missed out on was a customer who would have spent a significant amount on wine today along with a guaranteed wine membership. Oh well, their loss, as there are way too many outstanding wineries in the area to even consider ever going back to Sokol Blosser.

We visited Sokol Blosser for wine tasting by prior reservation on August 3rd at $20 per person. Masks were required except when tasting due to coronavirus. The weather, tasting area and views were great as was the hospitality and the wines. We had Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot noir and enjoyed them all. Hospitality was outstanding and it is highly recommended!
