It's awesome to sit on a bench, watch the water flow and the migratory birds.

When you need to get away from the hustle, bustle, stress and just day-to-day grind visit one of the Delta Ponds sites. In the spring and fall you an new birds making stop overs. It's not unusual to see blue herons and snowy egrets but there are plenty more as well. Or, close your eyes and listen to the running river....

Mucky but waterfowl and turtles
2019年5月 • 家庭
These are recovered marshy ponds from the Willamette river. The viewing paths are good and the ponds are most often muddy and marshy (and smell a little appropriately) but a good place to see turtles sunning and plenty of waterfowl.

Fantastic little park close to Valley River Mall
2018年7月 • 独自旅游
This is a great little park in the middle of the city. There are LOTS of birds including an Osprey nest that is quite difficult to miss on the right side of the trail coming down from the second parking lot (North). If you walk all the way to the very top of the trail (North) you will find a secluded board walk area (not sure what to call it) and if you take your camera or binoculars out you may get a glimpse of the osprey chicks that hatch this time of year. (May-June, into July). Other bird species include Canadian Geese as well as Wood Ducks, Mallard ducks (of course), Green Herons, Great Blue Herons, Killdeer, and Red Winged Blackbirds as well as many many more. See how many you can spot!

Peaceful and beautiful!

This area is not far off the highway, but still quite beautiful and secluded. It's a great place to walk, run, or just bird-watch!

Beautiful walking/biking/running area

Lived close to this park for a while, and loved the serenity of it. With its board walks it is a great place for bird watching, a nice quiet walk or run, or (in the summer) to just sit in the sun and relax. Hundreds of wild geese stay here all year long.

Very pleasant walk

Good territory for bird-watching; pleasant walk on paved path. Sometimes have to dodge bicycles; some of them going too fast for a space shared with pedestrians.

Wetlands amid the city
2018年8月 • 独自旅游
Wetlands accessible from many locations. The wetlands are between a couple of busy roads so you can see the ponds as you drive by (and often see herons in the ponds) and when you walk along some of the paths of the wetlands you can hear the traffic. But, still a nice nature area.

There are two parking lots on Good Pasture Island Road and you can access trails and overlooks to the wetlands. Lots of geese, swans, blue and white herons, and ducks to be seen. You may also see turtles sunning on logs or nutria swimming in the ponds.

The trails go in almost a full loop--but not quite. There is a dashed line on the map for "future trail". So, just be aware you can't currently complete the loop and will have to return the way you came. The trails are decently wide, packed dirt, and pretty easy to navigate.

The Willamette River Trail (east side) also goes among the Delta ponds affording another access point to view the ponds.

From Good Pasture Island Road, you can also access the Delta Ponds Pedestrian Bridge which affords a nice view of the ponds from above. The bridge crosses over the Delta Highway and ends in a residential neighborhood. So, you may just want to go to the center of the bridge to view the ponds and then return the way you came.

Neat place in a strange location
2018年7月 • 家庭
The ponds are between two busy roads. Ducks will follow you down the path quacking for food. Great Blue Herons abound, as do some bugs and flies and mosquitoes on occasion. Still...it is a pleasant respite and gentle walk among well populated waterways.

Never know what you’ll see
2018年7月 • 夫妻情侣
This is an amazing series of ponds off the river in Eugene. The park system maintains the area nice with walking paths accessible for wheel chairs too. The birds are amazing. We actually saw a golden eagle sitting in a tree less than 30 feet from us. If you go early in the morning, the amount of animal and fowl activity is incredible. I highly recommend going at different times and seasons.
