Wayyyy Overpriced
2018年11月 • 独自旅游
Stopped by Wilamette for a bit. Looked festive. Food menu looked appealing. A growler fill is $30. Rediculous when the filling station growlers for most expensive cider is $16 or so. Rip off. Won’t be back. ESP not for growler fills.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
2018年8月 • 好友
A small group of us went to Claim 52's Kitchen location on Willamette Street. This was our first time at this location -- we've been to the other on on Tyinn St. We all like Claim 52, so I'm a bit disappointed in this visit. But for my complaints below, I would have given Claim 52 a 5 star rating.

Let's start with the GOOD: really, yes really great beer. If that's all you're here for, you've come to the right place. Lots of inventive and unique IPAs, some porters and even cider and wine for your friends who are not beer-centric. The servers were friendly and let me sample several tastes before I chose the Arrested Development, which is listed as a "Hazy Fruit IPA." It was fruit-forward, light, refreshing, great overall summer drink and hey (!) I'm not even an IPA fan. There are lots of other beers to sample and enjoy also. The location is downtown Eugene, in a renovated storefront, with garage doors that open in summer and keep you warm in winter. We sat outside near the sidewalk. Comfortable, fun place to go. No complaints so far...but wait!

The BAD: food! Okay, so I was in a party of four. Two of us liked their plates (one was a taco of the day). Another party member ordered the PBLT and Thai Chili Green Beans as a side. For her, the PBLT was meh, while the beans were delicious but way over-spiced. And this is from someone who loves hot chili. I ordered the Deviled Salmon sandwich with fried pickles instead of french fries. Deviled Salmon is deviled lox salad over toasted sourdough, lettuce, red onion and capers. Sounds good, right? And I love, love, love salmon. I took one bite and held the bite in my mouth while considering swallowing -- there was something really bad in this concoction. The lox salad was covered with something creamy, so I couldn't tell what the mix was, but it had a bad smell and a putrid taste. I ended up spitting the salmon on my plate. Uncovered, it looked uncooked, perhaps it was meant to be, but the taste was so bad, I didn't want to test it further. I will say that the servers were very nice and exchanged my sandwich for the PBLT without any hassle. On the other hand, I loved the fried pickles. Very light batter, not greasy at all, and they were a hit with all of us. And now...

The UGLY: the PBLT sandwich is listed as pork belly, bacon, lettuce, tomato on toasted sourdough. Okay, so maybe the port belly ingredient should have warned me. This was my exchange sandwich from the salmon and I again took a big bite of my sandwich only to find that a large portion of the meat was fat. I guess I expected that the fat would be cooked down, so it wasn't so...slimy fat. I just can't eat a mouthful of fat. I ended up taking the sandwich home and removing most of the fat. I will say that the sandwich meat was very generous, and even with all the fat removed, it was a meaty experience. Just...too much wiggly fat.

So there you have it. We'll return again; the place was fun, offered great beer and a nice environment. I'm going to give them some time to work on their food pairing, though.

A new and wonderful addition to the food and beverage scene in Eugene Oregon. With unique food offerings using fresh Northwest ingredients it is a special place to go with someone or alone including families

Noisy Friday Happy Hour, fabulous tacos
2018年7月 • 好友
It was a warm and sunny afternoon and the garage style doors were open. That didn't help the level of noise. We were quickly seated and ordered the Korean Tacos. Then we ordered the drummies with hoisen sauce. The tacos were FABULOUS. I will sefinately order them again. The drummies has other options for sauces but we ordered hoison sauce. The came deep friend and drowning in a powerful hoison sauce that made them barely edible after the first couple bites. I didn't like them. I had a Kolsch beer and I liked it a lot. My companion ordered a hazy IPA. When I asked her the name of her beer she said. "crappy". She wasn't impressed.

Great place, but poor name recognition
2018年4月 • 独自旅游
New place in Eugene. Love it. Friendly. Having co-owned a cafe, I can say that poor name recognition will lose 25% of the business, take longer to get est. The cursive ‘Claim’ is essentially illegible. The name ‘Claim 52’ itself is at first puzzling. Write ‘Claim’ better. Restaurant/bar business is tough as it is, Good luck.

We stopped by for a sampling of the brews offered here. Bought a cool tee shirt and enjoyed the company of the bar tenders as they served up frothy selections of cold brews! I would go back for sure !

Quick to give sample

Bartender was very quick to let my wife sample anything. The beers are pretty good in a tough beer environment.

Breweries are NOT for kids!
2016年2月 • 夫妻情侣
Came here because I like beer. The service was great, and the beer was equally great! To my surprise, a large group arrived at the same time I did, and quickly took up a large section (over half) of the available seating in the tasting room. Apparently, it was a group that was there for a child's 1st birthday! There were toddlers, balloons, and cupcakes. At a brewery tasting room! Either the parents were alcoholics, or this was the best kid's birthday idea ever! I'm going to go with the parents being alcoholics. Management should seriously set some guidelines for group parties there. It was distracting to have adult conversations with little kids running around. The parents literally set up a blanket on the floor for the toddler to eat her cupcake, and I had to walk through their party to get to the one bathroom. It was annoying. Other than that, the place serves great beer in what I would assume is normally a pretty chill place to hang out. Just no kids, ok? Thanks!
