What a wonderful stay!!

My family and I recently pack up for the weekend and set out to Fossil, Oregon to see the old town again. I’m 37 now but when I was kid we came down to Fossil to camp, swim and see the sites! Some of my family have been back since and camped a Bear Hollow camp ground, and I have to say that they are one of the nicest camp grounds I’ve ever been too!! The bathroom is one these toilet that has a seat with a big hole underneath where the waste goes, but there is plenty of TP and I pleasant smell due the park staff placing air fresher in there!

Amenities: I highly recommend this camp grounds! There is cell service and your internet work too! I was able to FaceTime while I was here the hole time! There is still a open field with a stage there, and cows from a near by ranch that are fenced in pass the field.

Downside was there was a burn ban, so don’t be like us and forgot you camping stove (it’s my mom’s fault because she left handed (family joke)). And, it can get chilly here so don’t let the 10 year old pack your blankets (he is left handed too..... do you see where I’m going here) or you might freeze 🥶 like we did!!!! Also, camp site 10 had a problem with hornets! They loved our fried chicken!!!

Camp rate is $20 first night, and $15 after that with-a $2 charge per extra person ( weird thing all the hotels down her charge extra per person 🤔). You place the payment in a envelope that is provider when you come in, then you place said envelope in a yellow box labeled PAYMENTS.

All and all my family had a blast! We got closer and made some lasting memories and stories for my son. That all that really matter to me! My mom with be gone one day leaving my brother and I to retell stories of the time we stayed a Bear Hollow with her and she forgot the camp stove and let the 10 year old pack the blankets!!! I love this crazy family of mine! Come make some fun family memories of your own!!!

Great quiet camping spot

Bear Hollow County Park is a nice little gem right off of the John Day Highway about 7 miles south of the town of Fossil Oregon. The restrooms are clean, there's plenty of water spigots and garbage cans by the campsites. There are fire pits and picnic tables at each campsite. The nightly fee is only $10. The campsites are in grove of big pine trees so there's plenty of shade on a hot day. A small creek flows along the campground too. There's a big open field too with a music stage. The highway is not a busy highway so there's not a lot of noise while camped. It's definitely on my list of campsites. It would also be a great place to picnic or stop at while driving through the area.
