Extremely poor customer service. We were club members with them for 10 months, and because we didn't "stay in contract" with them for at least 12 months, they charged our credit card $50 for "canceling early". We tried to politely work this out with all 3 of their reps, including the Manager, they all held their ground, kept our $50, and said it was because "it was in the contract you signed when joining, and it's because we give discounts to members". Seriously? It's the industry standard that ALL wine clubs give discounts to members, no matter how long you are with them. Really, really poor customer service. We are, and have been, members of many wine clubs in CA, OR, and WA for many years. Not ONCE has any other winery ever charged anyone for canceling their club membership. Ever. There are many other awesome wineries and wine clubs within driving distance of Hood River, and they treat their customers well and don't pimp them for $50 for canceling their memberships. Never again.

On the second night in town we made our way to this tasting room during happy hour when glasses of wine are reduced by $1. On the first round my wife had a glass of Pinot Gris which was not very complex, the Merlot chosen for her second was much better. I was so happy with my first choice of Big Red that I decided not tempt fate by trying anything else. On the third night in town, a Friday, we sampled 5 wines at another winery, none compared favorably to those at the Pines so returned for glasses of Big Red (me) and Merlot (wife). The servers on both nights were very knowledgeable and pleasant. Additional note: there is live entertainment on Friday night.

Staff was super knowledgable and friendly and the tasting was well done. Nice to go from door to door (downtown) wine tasting in Hood River.

Love this winery, their wines and their employees. The tasting room staff are always friendly and always willing to deviate from the fixed tasting line up if you are interested. If you're not careful, you'll walk out with wine and I, of course, am always careless in this place!!!

Three of us did a tasting at a table by the window. Great wine flight served by a knowledgeable server. Ended up buying a couple of bottles to take home. Live music on Friday nights!

Hubby and I finally had one night away without kids so hit the town for some wine tasting. This place is so relaxing and chill. Server was very sweet and knowledgable. The prices for a flight are good. You also get the fee waived when you buy a bottle. So $36 for two bottles of Pino Gris and tastings for both of us. Very pleased the wine is excellent. Will be back!

I had never tried The Pines' wines, so I stopped in and was very pleasantly surprised! The two young ladies working the day I went in were very knowledgable about the wines, and the wines were lovely. It was a refreshing change from other tasting rooms I've been to in Hood River where the staff just pours and can't answer questions about the wines.
This will become an annual stop for me!

People had told me about The Pines, and I finally visited it. The wines are fantastic, especially the old vines Zin. Liz, behind the counter, was extremely personable and knowledgeable. I ended up joining their wine club.

We spent a day visiting vineyards in the area. We finished up at The Pines 1852. There was no doubt they had the best wines in the region. Everyone in my group bought wine. The wines were spectacular.This is a must go place if you like wine!!!

We stopped by here to see what offerings they had. Since it was a super hot day, we decided to taste some whites and get a glass and relax.
The white blend was refreshing, light, crisp with a hint of pears and apples. Not too minerally and great on a hot day.
The Chardonnay was very smooth, just slightly oaky, and had a nice buttery finish.
We also had a taste of the Viognier which I wasn't too fond of. It had a mineral after taste and not a smooth finish.
I did have a slight qualm with the lady that was pouring. I had tasted the Viognier and let her know that it wasn't for me and that I was going to have a glass of the Chardonnay. She ended up pouring the chardonnay into the glass with the Viognier in it still. I let her know this, and she was dismissive about it and said "there was just a little in there. I will just give you a little more of the chardonnay to drown it out". Humm...my husband and I have done a lot of wine tastings, and I really did not like how she just dismissed my statement.
Oh well, I let it go and drank the chardonnay anyway. It did turn me off into tasting more or even buying a bottle of wine.
