We loved this campground, the area was beautiful and quiet. They keep it very clean and there is a lovely view of the River

One of the last spots the pioneers stopped on the Oregon Trail right on the Snake River that divides Idaho from Oregon, Historical makers and interpretive displays as you walk along the river bank. Lots of birds and wild life. We camped in our camping trailer for several days right on the bank of the the reservoir. The bathrooms and showers were spotless and are cleaned daily. The camp hosts and rangers were friendly and helpful. Will definitely return here again. We were looking for beauty, solitude and closeness to home and this fit the bill being only 60 miles from our home, but a world away in restfulness.

100 degree heat made it impossible to sleep, goat head thorns all over the place that popped our air mattresses, mosquitoes ready to carry you off, nasty river that was so low that we couldn’t even swim in it… the restrooms were pretty nasty but functional. I don’t ever expect campground stuff to be sparkling.
We were tent camping in late July so we expect the heat, but it just didn’t cool off. The people in campers wouldn’t even come out of their air conditioning during the day!
Our group paid for 3 nights but after the second, we were ready to get the hell outta hell. We even wrote a song about it “Farewell to Farewell Bend, we won’t be back again.”

Lovely park with water a power. Dump station on the way out. Very well spaced sites with privacy hedges between. Shade trees and nice paths down to the water. Easy off interstate and no noise. Great place.

Farewell Bend State Park has always been a favorite of mine. My husband and I booked a three-night stay in mid-August 2020.
I was shocked at the appearance of the park. All the grass was dead, and a lot of the leaves on the privacy bushes were dying and dropping all over the ground. I have never seen the park so neglected.
The bathrooms were very dirty and the garbage was not emptied the entire time we were staying.
I understood that services would be limited on account of Covid, but I was just surprised to see the dead and dying landscape.
I would come back to this park because I love the location, but I probably won't be back duiring the pandemic.

March 2020..weather was nice, no bugs this time of year. Clean campground. Only Cat Fish open for winter camping (first come fist serve) so it could be a gamble. A LOT of Geese and Geese poop. Must have been a Geese convention that weekend. Great off leash dog park/run area to use. Not too many tress at Cat Fish, but view of river and mountains are really beautiful. Ranger staff are nice!

We had a bad experience at this Campground. My large group had several campsites in the Catfish Loop. We chose this Campground so that we could swim in the Snake River to cool down from the heat. It was 104° for two days, followed by 102°, then several days in the 90°s. Unfortunately, there was an algae bloom in the water and we were unable to swim. In order to attempt SOME level of comfort, a couple of people in our group purchased inflatable pools to cool down. Two park rangers forced us to empty the pools because they said it was against park policy. A policy they couldn't bring us to see and that wasn't posted anywhere. A supposed policy that, doesn't protect the park from any real harm and that, taken the circumstances should have been waved for the customers who paid a lot of money to enjoy a week at the campground.
The next day, when we arrived to camp from town, we found the sprinklers to be on and soaking two of our members' tents & sleeping gear.
There is also no warning about the extreme winds that are at the Campground at night, which the park rangers said is a regular occurrence. EXTREME WINDS.
My group goes camping for a week every summer, all around Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. This was the worst park experience we've had in the twenty + years of doing this.
We will not be back.
The next day, when we arrived to camp from town, we found the sprinklers to be on and soaking two of our members' tents & sleeping gear.

We spent 3 nights at this park on our way to Yellowstone. The sites are laid out quite nicely and the view from some of the sites are beautiful. We didn't fish but we understand that this is a fisherman's paradise.

Wife and I on a roadtrip from Idaho to Washington. She wants me to find a bathroom. This state park comes along.
Easy to find, right off the Interstate. I didn't see any signs about day use fees so we drove right in. There is lots of green space and quite a few picnic tables. After our mission was complete, we checked out the Snake River. Looks like a good fishing area.
There was basically no one there except us and a few other people running their dogs. The bathrooms looked clean and the place looked well cared for.
We would like to go again just to camp and fish a bit. It's a pretty location.

Since we got to go skiing and snowshoeing we needed to provide recreation for our loyal dogs Stella and Callie.
They thought that this park was perfect.Lots of dogs in a beautiful background of the Deschutes river. Lots of traills and water birds to entertain them. They were pleased! I loved the gorgeous rock formations and the horse sculpture.
