I came from Newark, New Jersey to dive in one of the most amazing lakes in the country.
Clear Lake is reported to be one of the most exceptional freshwater dive spots in the United States. Submerged deep in the lake is a stand of upright trees that were killed approximately 3,000 years ago when Little Nash Crater erupted and the resulting lava flow dammed the river that flowed through this valley, creating the 148-acre lake. The trees are remarkably preserved due to the cold year-round water temperatures of between 33–41 °F. The lake is an altitude dive at 3,000 feet. The thick layer of white volcanic ash that covers the bottom gives the appearance of rippled beach sand reflecting sunlight, further enhancing the visibility.
If it wasn't for Carlos, I don't think I would have had that great of a time.
Thanks Carlos!
