The folks here are amazing, incredible service and great value. They make riding the dunes very convenient. Recommend for all ages, but super fun for adults! The machines were in great shape and we felt really safe. Can’t wait to go back!

On Aug 25 we took the guided 2 hour afternoon tour with Heidi. We rented the 4 door RZR Turbo R4. The RZR was outstanding, plenty of power for the four of us. We took the tour because we wanted to really see the area and have some help selecting the best route for our skill level. We are really glad we did! Heidi took our driver, my brother-in-law, through his paces to teach and assess his skill level. By mid-tour she was leading us on fantastic banked curves, up and down high dunes and around dune bowls at 35-40 mph. Downhill speeds were dizzying. We had a blast! Could not recommend a better experience. We couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces for hours.

I took my leadership team out to Spinreel. We spent 2 hours zooming up and down the beach and sand dunes. We had 8 of us we all got to drive the 3 ATV's we rented. It was a beautiful day at the beach. My team already asking to go back!

The guide we had made sure everyone was comfortable driving. Enjoy our full 2 hour tour. I would definitely do this again!

This is the second time we have come with a big group of all ages to Spinreel for a 2 hr rental and we were just as happy as the first time! As a parent of teens, and a daughter of 70 year olds (all of whom have no experience with ATVs) I wanted to make sure that our group would have fun and be safe. This company does such a great job on both counts. They were super helpful to set up a large rental request over the phone, and had lots of appropriate email reminders. Personally I love all the effort they took to make sure we had a proper safety training. Their location is right next to the dunes, so no time was wasted getting there, and we knew they could come right over if anything happened to us. Beside all of that, they were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. THANK YOU!! Highly Recommend.

Everything contact I had with Spinreel was outstanding. I called a month before our trip to ask several questions. Rich, the owner, provided all the answers and gave me a discount since we were renting two vehicles. He advised me about which dune buggy's to rent. Once we arrived for our adventure, the staff and Rich went out of their way to make sure our experience was safe and FUN! The orientation to the dunes is thorough. It can feel overwhelming because the dunes area is so vast but Spinreel provided a great map, suggested places to go, places to avoid, and how to best spend our 2 hours (beach first then dunes). We LOVED our dune buggy ride on the dunes. The four of us enjoyed every moment. The vehicles are safe and the instructions on how to ride safely helped too. Rich - thank you for making it fun for us! We will return when we are back in the area!

The 2 hour dune buggy on the beach and sand dunes was an unbelievable experience. The staff are very welcoming and explain everything well for safety of the drivers. Rich was very kind and told cheesy jokes while giving us our orientation which the kids loved. Our families had a great time.

What a FUN time!!! We did the Follow Me Tour with Cage (spelling?) as our tour guide! he said it was his first time leading a tour & he did AWESOME!! Friendly, personable, safe, & fun! We really enjoyed each of the areas we toured; beach, dunes, etc. It was a really cool experience & something neither of us had ever done before, but will be doing again!! Highly recommend if you're in the area! Thank you, Spinreel!!!

This was my first rental (after owning my own quad for 11 years.) I rented the 450 Wolverine for a full day. I'm 6-2 at 215 pounds. The quad was a very good choice for cruising the trails and the open dunes. It's not a screaming race horse of a machine. But it has plenty of get-up & go. I was able to go from Spinreel all the way to Boxcar and back on 1 tank of gas with a quarter tank to spare. You probably don't wanna risk this if you don't know the way. You'll run out of gas pretty easy. The maintenance on the quad was good. For those of you unfamiliar with the dunes, It's easy to get lost out there. Open your loops slowly. But the place is no prob for me. The place was well staffed and the instructions were, well, decent. Quads do not drive like anything else in the world and I was surprised to get zero instruction on proper riding technique. Not that I needed it.. But a newbie will need it. If you're a newbie, ask them about how to shift your body weight in a turn while riding a quad.
Be sure to bring sunscreen, thin gloves, and keep cool water in your back pack. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE YOUR HYDRATION NEEDS. I spent years out there and then had to move away. So this full-day ride was such a wonderful experience and brought back many memories. Thank you Spinreel.

My son is still beaming. This was his first experience riding a quad, first experience on the dunes, first chance to ride something on his own. The equipment is up to date, well maintained and well chosen for the terrain.

Hi, does your company organize multi-day adventure tours or do you know a tour company that does? I'm trying to organize a guys trip for 3 to 4 nights with a tour company that organizes accommodation, food, fun activities like ATV'ing, sandboarding, etc.

On the first week of July should I book a Dune Buggy from 9:30-11:30am or 3pm-5pm. Would there be any benefit for either one as far as the weather, traffic, etc.?

We will be there in August this year. I keep reading about the restrictions between March-Sept when the Snowy Plover is nesting. Are there non-restricted areas to drive buggies on the dunes in the Spinreel area during this time? Thanks for your info. Joe and Cat

My son will be a week shy of having his driver's license when we visit. Are drivers with a permit allowed to drive the dune buggies if they have a licensed driver with them?

I drove a four-seater vehicle and was required to have a full drivers licence. My 10yo, however, was given a quad to ride on his own (under parental supervision, of course). I'm not certain that fully answers your question, but hope it helps.

We're planning to visit on July 5th with my wife and daughters aged 18 and 12 and son aged 15. We're trying to work out the best configuration. We'll have about 1.5 to 2 hours to visit.
So, is the tour just a guided trip on the dunes vs. doing it on your own? Or, do they take you to unique places and provide information about the area that you wouldn't get on your own? My wife's not so sure she interested in having some one just ride her around the dunes.
Are the number of people on the dunes at one time controlled at all? I'm a bit concerned about the danger of running into others or being hit by others if there is a large crowd. I realize July 4th weekend isn't the ideal time for the lowest crowds.
Do the quads have governors on them to limit speed?
Are there people on the dunes who bring their own vehicles?

You are on your own. No tours. It is a state park so there are other riders and it probably will be crowded, but it is a smaller dunes park so the weekenders will probably be at a larger park. The cc size of the quad limits the power so there are no governors. Riding along the beach is very fun. My kids had a blast. the scenery is beautiful.

And we would like to "carpool", haha, so would you recommend a quad or a side by side? And also, what kind of accommodations and restaurants are available near there? If you have not been to oregon coast, Mo's restaurants are worth seeking out. Best clam chowder. Very casual. A quad will be more fun, more open air, no seatbelt. A side by side in enclosed and a little safer feeling, you are strapped in a 5 point harness. I drove the quad solo for the last 15 minutes and had a blast. You should really consider getting 2 quads. I am a 47 year old mom and really had fun.
