My wife and I spent a couple of weeks in Lincoln City recently, and we stumbled upon this shop while strolling along the main street through town.
Since we were not there long enough to justify getting the kind of kite I would have liked, we nevertheless went back at least 3-4 times during our visit. Why? My wife LOVES the blown glass marbles they had for sale just as you come in the door. Haha. They were cool and affordable. Let's just say that the ones for sale down the road at a glass-blowing shop cost 5x more than those at the kite shop.
There's a chance we may end up retiring to this area. If/when we do, I'll be going back for some kites...the beaches of Lincoln City are perfect for that!

A great place to go if you are looking for a Kite or even just to look around. When we went there, I was surprised by all the beautiful colors and the variety of their inventory. Staff was very friendly and helpful too. If you ever want/need a Kite of any style this is the place to go. They make great gifts too. All of the kite products I looked at were made from Rip-Stop Nylon. I bought a rip-stop nylon Wind Spinner (like a wind sock that spins) years ago from a kite shop in Lincoln City and wanted another. I put that one on a flag pole in my yard and flew it for 6 years until the wind finally wore it out. I bought a very similar one Northwest Winds. I expect that it will give me about 6 years of service too.

The owner of this store was super helpful. We walked in just at closing but he did not rush us or make up feel like we were an inconvenience. He gave us LOTS of ideas for kites with LOTS of price ranges you can go cheap at 17.99 to 600.00!!! YES SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. We ended up with 40ish dollar kite. It was a guaranteed to fly kite and it did not let us down! We took that kite out several times and it not only got in the air easy but it held up to kids running and playing with it! He was not just about the sale but about making a friend and helping out. We ended up back the next day and again got great service!

Great selection at store, so much fun just to wander. Purchased 2 of the same kites. Struggled with one and Michael provided some options, gave me a tail to try and ultimately replaced it. Very much appreciated the super customer service and personal interest, time and commitment to quality.

What an amazing shop!! They have every kind of kite you can imagine! We purchased an Orca, Dragon, and Dragon Fly kites. The lady at the register provided great information on the wind and how the kites would fly in it. The kites are BEAUTIFUL and will last a long time if they are taken care of. I will definitely come visit this great shop again when I am in Lincoln City!

I love this kite shop and have been going thru for decades...names change...kites update...and I always get one or two...Great service and knowledge

They helped us select three kites for use on the beach. 10-20 mph winds. The single-strand kites worked well, even in the high winds. First day, we failed to use the two-strand kit very well. So, we went back to the store for advice. She spent plenty of time showing us how and why. Success.
A bonus was watching experts fly their kites in the Summer kite festival across the street.

I would call myself new to kite flying and bought my first "big" kite a couple years back on Amazon. I remembered from a vacation some 30 years back that entering Lincoln City from the north on Hwy 101 seeing a large kite display on the beach. So captivating we stopped to take the view in. Fast forward 30 some odd years and my wife are traveling up the west coast and decided to look for a kite shop in Lincoln City. Northwest Winds kites is right off Hwy 101 and turns out to be the business responsible for the kite display on the beach. They have a large selection of kites from large sport kites down to small kites for the little tykes. I met Richard Oswald, one of the owners, that shared his knowledge about kites we were interested in buying. He recommended one for my wife which we purchased. I got the Flock-of-Swallows which is what we were initially looking for. Very friendly people and great prices compared to the large online sources. It turned out the kite my wife bought had flying characteristics that she did not like. NW Kites gladly accepted the return and refunded our money. I wish all companies I dealt with had this kind of service. This is a great kite shop and definitely worth the stop if you're in Lincoln Ciy, OR.

We have not flown kites. My husband(43), niece (16), and myself thought it would be fun. We were going to buy one kite and try it. We ended up with one for each of us. The staff gave great tips regardless of what we each chose. It depends on winds per hour and we each chose based on what we liked for style. They were so much fun, we all got them soaring and all the string length. We were suprised at how addicting it was and we flew them several times. It was so much fun.

Great selection of kites, spinners and lots of other wind toys. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They repaired my lite I purchased a number of years ago and were fair and quick. They also have a good selection of rubberband guns and other kids toys. Right across the street from the D'River beach so very easy to get to.
