I have visited the Lowell covered bridge twice in the last month and have found it to be so filthy, covered in a tremendous amount of bird crap, that I didn’t feel comfortable walking inside to read the interpretive signage. Considering that this is a visitor center I think it should be better kept, perhaps a power washer once in a while to maintain some sanitary conditions. I have visited many if the covered bridges in Oregon and have not found this to be a problem elsewhere. Obviously there is something here that attracts birds to roost but it needs to be handled.

Good for a quick stop, drive by or spending longer by the water. Whatever your timing the Lowell Covered Bridge will offer you options. The bridge only takes foot traffic now and that can be hazardous due to a lot of birds in the rafters. Good info, history and well worth the stop

We just happened upon the Lowell covered bridge and it was worth the quick stop. There is a interpretive center inside the bridge and the view is wonderful. It sits on the Dexter Reservoir and it is a good place to get out and stretch your legs.

This is a really great bridge to see. Very long and although it is no longer used for traveling it has a great history. It is an interpretive center and there are great views all around. Public restrooms and concrete path. Handicap accessible.

Lowell Covered Bridge is an enjoyable and informative experience. It offers beautiful vistas over Dexter Reservoir. Inside the bridge are displays that explain the bridge's history.

There are quite a few Covered Bridges in Oregon, many look similar is design just in different settings. Lowell and the Office Bridge in Westfir are my favorites, so far.
The Bridge and Lake are the star attractions in Lowell.... Actually they are the ONLY attractions in Lowell! The town of LOwell looked very depressing with people parked on a dirt lot living out of a bus.... Not much else in the town... Don't bother stopping. There were some sketchy looking people hanging out by the bridge area, maybe homeless. Oregon seems to have a problem dealing with their homeless population...
The Bridge is Star, but looks out of place.... It's non-functional but located right next to the modern bridge. Gives ya an old vs new feel, but makes ya feel like the old bridge is out of place.
It's well maintained and looks almost like a museum for covered bridges. Pretty setting. Good info. Walking access on the bridge.

My husband and I stayed in Eugene/Springfield the night before our day trip to Crater Lake National Park. The quickest way to Crater Lake from the North is taking Oregon Route/Hwy 58. About 20 minutes out of Eugene, the bridge is along the road on the left. You cannot miss it. The white bridge was built in 1945 and is 165 feet long. There is a small park at the location. We toured the inside of the bridge and walked around the park. We stayed about 15 minutes. This is a nice stop and free.

Free of charge - Dexter Lake. From IH-5 take the Oakridge/Hwy. 58 exit. Travel east to Lowell. Bridge is at east end of lake. Beautiful structures and information on site.

Breathtaking restored covered bridge near Lowell. This white bridge is no longer in
service but has been restored and has it's own parking lot so that you can walk out and enjoy it and the interpretive signage and informaiotn that has been added. Be aware that birds nest and perch in the top of the bridge and there is a great deal of evidence of their presence along the floors. We had no problem with them when we visited and enjoyed the displays and the bridge.

The new highway passes this 1945 bridge by. It replaced an earlier bridge washed out in 1941
We also stopped at the Office Bridge in nearby West Fir. It was still in use and had an interesting pedestrian bridge on its side
Love to see these restored. Nice little pull off and interpret e signs
