Amazing wine and beautiful scenery. We highly recommend visiting when touring the many wineries to choose from.

Though this winery is off the beaten path, you can find it if you simply follow the directions on their website, and you will be rewarded with excellent wine, excellent view, and excellent service. The sister of the winemaker was pouring our tastes, and was a wealth of information about their wines and the area in general. We are glad we made the extra effort to visit them, and I would definitely recommend a visit to this winery to taste their great wines.

We scheduled a tasting visit at JK Carriere with Linda Crabtree, who was an excellent host for an incredible wine tasting experience. My wife and I had visited this winery 6 years ago, and loved their wines. This trip we brought 2 other couples, and thought that they would enjoy JK Carriere as much as we did on our first visit to the Willamette Valley. And, they did!
Linda did an excellent job educating us on their wines, and on the history of this winery. Their wines are incredible...and the winery is a really beautiful place to visit, as well. If you like fine, reasoanably priced wine, give JK Carrier a try.

After deciding to make a trip to Oregon to visit wineries, we asked the sommelier at the top-rated local restaurant (The Refectory in Columbus) for recommendations. This was his top choice. We were not disappointed. As we would be in the area on Monday, my husband contacted the winery in advance. The tasting room was closed, but Jim (owner and winemaker) agreed to meet with us to explain the chemistry of pinot. The personal tour was amazing. Sitting with the winemaker is just not something you can usually experience. We joined the wine club (not all Oregon wines can be shipped to Ohio) and are looking forward to our first shipment!
While we were without kids, they definitely would have enjoyed this visit. The vineyards are beautiful. The porches are very comfortable with a gorgeous view. There were even toys and games in the tasting room to keep kids busy.
The drive to the vineyard is beautiful as well.

The owner Jim gave us a tour of the vineyard and the winery and explained in great detail the process of growing the grapes and making the wine. The tasting that followed illustrated the exceptional quality of the wine he produces. A little off the beaten path but worth the effort

If you're looking for that perfect example of what Oregon Wine and the boutique Oregon winery scene is all about, you can't do much better than a trip to J.K. Carriere.
Owner and winemaker Jim Prosser is in his 3rd decade of making premium Oregon wine, and he truly is an iconic producer of the valley.
The majority of the time you visit the winery, Jim will either lead you through the tasting himself, or he will be somewhere on premises and will take a break from what he's doing to greet you in his own charming and cheeky way. Catch him in just the right mood and he can be a downright laugh riot.
The good thing, though, is that even if Jim is gone you will still get an educational, informative, and intimate experience with one of the cellar crew. There's no clueless tasting bar staff here - you'll always get someone who is directly involved in he production of the wine... so that's really attractive for most visitors.
The wine itself is stellar. A heavy focus on Pinot Noir along with a delicious, crisp Chardonnay, a very unique dry rosé, and a Method Champenoise sparkling Brut Rosé.
The philosophical theme that underscores all the wines is "high acid for food-friendliness and age-worthiness." Jim will often even pour something with a few years' age on it just to illustrate how much these wines blossom with time in the bottle.
The location is a bit out of the way up on Parrett Mountain, but the remoteness is why you'll often have the place to yourself or just a couple other people. Plus there are in fact a couple other wineries nearby to hit if you want to make Parrett Mountain part of your larger day of wine touring - most notably Beckham Estate.
Double check whether they are available or not... Hours can be a little wonky. I believe the official hours are 11 to 4 on Fridays and Saturdays only. But Jim will typically host you on an appointment basis on other days of the week as long as you call ahead and if he or someone else is available.
Make the trip - you'll be glad you did.

We stopped in at JK Carriere without an appointment. Linda was working the floor -- she was friendly and knowledgeable, and a delight to talk to. The wines were outstanding. So glad we went!

"We like our wines, like our friends and our dinner guests, to be vibrant in character, generous in spirit, acidic in wit, balanced in consideration of opposing tastes, and above all else, real." - Jim Prosser. What else can you want, right? Jim, the winemaker heads this family operation that includes his sister, who helped us taste and tour. The Pinot Noirs were excellent, and I was enticed enough to join their wine club.

Have loved his wines from afar for a long time. For two years was a member of the wine club. So on my first trip to Oregon wine country, had to go by. Not easy to get to -- not near our B & B or anything else I wanted to try. Disappointed that the winery was not well-adapted for many visitors. Stayed 5 minutes and left. Still love his wines, and will continue to drink from afar.

Jim, the winemaker, was our tour guide. He was affable, articulate and funny. We had a fun and informative tour with great wines the whole way through.
