Great for Weddings
2021年6月
My daughter got married there and it was amazing! It was a beautiful day and the facilities were incredibly nice (rustic). These are just a few of the great photos we got that day. The price was very reasonable and the park rangers helped us a lot. We booked the area for Friday, Saturday and Sunday so we had plenty of time. And we paid the parking fee for everyone (ranger collected it at the end of the evening). We also used a party trolley so people didn't have to drive if they didn't want to. Good time had by all!

Nice place to spend some time
2021年6月
We were looking for a place to walk or hike so ended up here. We learned some interesting Oregon history and enjoyed a casual walk.

Open space with shade.
2021年5月
Great hiking trails good for bikes and pedestrians. A large park with open fields, extensive oak forest, and frontage on the river for boating access. Very enjoyable for a hot day.

Wide Open Spaces
2020年6月
Beautiful park and lots of trails for hiking/biking. Some of the trails run along the Willamette River and lots of shade. There's a historical Butte Country Store you can easily hike to. Nearby is an old homestead. Fun to read the postings about it's history in the 1800's. Plenty of tent/trailer sites for camping. They also have cabins and yurts you can rent. Plenty of areas to play frisbee too. Day use permit is $5

A nice way to spend an afternoon. Riding to the Butteville Store and back along the Willamette River.

Great place to ride bikes, run, hike, disc golf and play with the dog
2019年9月
Its a short, easy ride, in and out. I would rate a 5 for easy but a 2 or 3 for distance. My GPS watch gave it 6.47 miles in and out (no gravel). It is a VERY pretty ride. I like to run the trail as well, as its an easy run with little hills and can get some distance. I add the road for added length. There are some off road trails that are good for some short hikes. The river is accessible in one place for kayaking. The Willamette is slow so a great place to teach the kids how to maneuver the kayak. My son is a disc golfer and Champoeg is a highly rated course. There is an advanced course as well (some tees have two, one regular and one advanced). The cabins are clean and heated! They're the best in the winter!

I would give it a five if there was more river access and more area to explore.

Wonderful sprawling park with cozy cabins.
2019年8月 • 家庭
The cabins are cozy and clean and not to far from the bathroom and shower building. We stayed in cabin 1 which is mostly shaded and backs up to the camp paved trail. There are also a couple of trees out front that are just the right distance to hang a hammock and a good bunch of shrubs to block the view of the parking lot. The parking spots for the cabins are assigned and are a short distance away. They also have a wheelbarrow to haul your things over. They also sell firewood and ice so no need to haul it in.

Bathrooms and showers are older but really well kept and clean. Unfortunately there are no hooks or shelves in the bathroom to stash your stuff. Showers are private rooms with a changing area and free hot water.

Park has an awesome “natural” play area and lots of paved trails for little kids to bike around.

Historical buildings and sites are fun to explore. The visitors center displays are really well done in telling the story of the location. The rangers and volunteers really add to the experience. There is also a little garden where they grow plants that were present when the original settlement was there. They also sell little packets of seeds to bring home for your own garden.

Will definitely put this park on the list for future family trips!

Nice place to camp
2019年7月
Our family of 5 stayed in one of the yurts here. While some of the sites were more private, the yurt village is not. We could see both our neighbors and there was not a lot of trees. Worst part was that we were close to the parking area so the one bright light shown over our area which made the nightly campfires kind of lame.

Aside from that though, there is a ton to do here. My kids loved the Junior Ranger program and took part in 2 nightly and 1 morning events. They had an awesome play area for the kids which had a fun water feature. Park hosts were nice. Lots of good walking areas. I took the dog on the very long paved trail to the local store in town, which was really more just like a bakery and have very little in regards to groceries.

Close to the river, which we fished at and was maybe a 15 minute or so walk.

As long as you scout out your campsite first, this place will be great with plenty to do for a fun family camping trip.

quiet place to camp outside Portland
2019年6月 • 夫妻情侣
Spent 2 night RV camping. Nice campground, quiet, shady trees. Great paved bike path, through meadows and wooded areas...and ends at Historic Butteville Store, which has great ice cream! Didn't get to go to historical buildings, since they weren't open except on weekends. There is a cost, unless camping.

Gem Off I5 close to Portland
2019年6月
Champoeg is a place where the early history of Oregon Country and the West comes to light. The famous meeting of settlers in 1843 decided the destiny of the Oregon Country to the United States. Just 15 miles from downtown Portland via I5 (signs notify of the turns to St. Paul and the Park) you are transported to an earlier time. Drive thru farm land that has changed little since the first donation land claims in the 1840's and walk along the Willamette River and imagine the fir trappers in their canoes headed for the Hudson Bay Company at Fort Vancouver! The park is spacious with camping and picnic areas in trees as well as large open meadows. Nothing remains of the town that before the flood of 1861 was the largest in the Northwest and before Portland become the economic hub of the region. The museum is interesting, but mainly you will want to walk along the river and imagine bygone days. Enjoy a picnic or convenient camping close to Portland.
