Hiking in the forest

We went early to the path named Ocean to Bay Trail. It wasn't that hard. At some places we had to walk up.

We were amidst the trees. Some of these trees were huge.

We were enjoying listening the birds,

Then we went back to our car. What a nice walk

Worthwhile to enjoy!

Beautiful Shaded walk through forest to surf

A lovely quiet trail, perfect for a morning or afternoon walk, my husband and I take this from the Baseball field & tennis courts and walk all the way down to Agate beach, its about 45 minutes. You pass through a shady forest, along a creek and come out at the east side of Agate beach public parking lot. A very nice trail. In the summer there are various stories for kids along the trail. Great for families.

The long and short of it.

There are several options to chose when taking this hike. For those with the time and stamina, you can start the trail at the bay front and wander up through town to the beginning of the forested portion of the trail at NE Fogarty & NE 12th sts. We decided to start our abbreviated version of the hike out to Agate beach here. Winding uphill and then down through second growth rainforest on a well maintained access road you come to the third starting option for the hike at the corner of NE Big Creek & Ne Harney sts. From here the trial winds through the lowland creeks on a fairly well maintained mix of wooden boardwalks (can be slick when wet) and gravel paths that eventually tunnels under 101 to the Agate beach parking lot. No matter which option you choose give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the lush forest and ferns.

Something to do is great during summer time mostly. We went while leaving a bit cold. But have been there when weather was warmer. Great for whole family. Take camera.

Rainforest Like Hike

This hike was very easy. We found so many different variety of plants and the biggest banana slug I've ever seen. It was a very quiet peaceful trail.

Pine and Saltwater

Another way to the beach

The trail is off the parking lot opposite the restrooms. You travel a path through a wooded area to the beach. One thing about it is that it's not a direct path to the beach.

Family Friendly Hike

This was a nice and fun hike through a small forest that leads to Agate Beach. The walk is a combination of gravel and boardwalk, and is accessible for all. There are many animals and beautiful plants through this walk. There were times where it felt like a rain forest, as many pf the plants are large, broad leafed and it was a little muggy. This is a great trail for kids, and we were able to see a salamander, snake and many birds. There is a tunnel that goes under the highway and connects to the beach at the end of the trail.
