Wow!! Interesting.
I thought the museum would be small when I went in. Its pretty big! I found a lot of interesting things. It took us about 2 hours to go through it, but it was worth it!

Worth the Stop
The Museum of the Oregon Territory is a compact and interesting place. The Museum tells the story of the Oregon Territory. It has some artifacts but the best is the old pharmacy. Definitely worth the stop!!! They honor veterans get with FREE admission!!!!

Ancient Pharmacy + History of Photography
2019年8月 • 夫妻情侣
The pharmacy is a highlight, but there's also an excellent collection of photographs from early Oregon City as there were a number of incredibly talented photographers who lived there, capturing the city's history.

A few weird items will draw your attention as well, including photos of recently deceased children in repose and live children being held in place by their mothers hiding just outside the frame or under a blanket, which makes sense when you consider how long you had to remain still for a photograph.

We enjoyed seeing all different topics and history. We went there to look the possibility of having a reception there and were very pleasantly surprised by the wide range of great history that was well organized and helpful guides. Well worth going there again now with grandchildren they will enjoy it as well.

Great place- well organized

Great place - not huge, well organized and well staffed. If you are traveling this is a perfect place to stop, get out of the car and take a really interesting break. It’s not large so you could pretty much do it justice in an hour or less. What makes this especially interesting is that you are looking at the falls and the museum walks you through the history of the site. It’s a great place to see the falls and, as the interpretive film tells you, second largest falls in the US. Has clean restrooms, good/parking and interesting stuff, around 8.00 for adults, a bit less for seniors. And a solid round of applause for the grounds keeper, nicely done and another reason to get out of the car.

We really enjoyed this museum on second floor. Great video about the history of Willamette Falls. Learned a lot about the abandoned buildings along the river and the use of water power too bring electricity to Portland.

Delightful museum
2017年11月 • 好友
While the museum does describe the history of the 12-year period from the formation of the Oregon Territory (including all of the Pacific Northwest) until Oregon became a state (with the boundaries we know now), much of the museum deals with the history of Oregon City and the logging and paper industries that established themselves along the banks of the Willamette River. The highlight for me was a delightful sandbox in which you could shape mountains and valleys and see a projector superimpose contours from above as well as streams or lakes that might result from the landform you created.

I liked the Recreated 1920's Pharmacy
2017年9月 • 独自旅游
The Museum of Oregon Territory is overlooking the Willamette Falls next to the McLoughlin Boulevard. It is open Wed through Sat from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 5-17, Free for under % years old.
Your ticket also includes admission to the Stevens Crawford Heritage house at 603 South Street. They are open Fridays and Saturdays from Noon till 4 PM.

The museum starts on the second floor. It has many items on display concerning life in the Oregon Territory from the American settlement days. There are also some Native American artifacts. Some Industrial Exhibits. And a recreated 1920's pharmacy that was a very impressive thing to see. I think this is what i like the most just for the feel and atmosphere it created.

They had a Free booklet titled AN OREGON POWERHOUSE The T. W. Sullivan Story. About a key figure in Oregon History. So I took one of them to read at home and learn a bit more about him and the area.

Up on the third floor is The Tumwater Ballroom. this is a room that can be reserved for some special occasions like wedding receptions, meetings, or special events. It has a great view of the Willamette Falls and the Willamette River.
