Before we visited it we had a lunch at the restaurant Redfish next to it where we spotted immediately this is something else - how the restaurant was decorated and how artistic chairs they had. The gallery and the restaurant are connected somehow, I don't know if the gallery own it or the restaurant is exhibiting the art works from the gallery. Anyway, the gallery is full of beautiful art works. They are not cheap but I never saw great art work being cheap. If you want to buy something or just enjoy seeing wonderful pieces make a stop.

I am not passing judgment on the quality of the art. Beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. The gallery is very fancy and very expensive. It feels incongruous on the South Coast of Oregon; a place of down to earth folks and wild coasts and forests. I hope it isn't a harbinger of things to come.

The Hawthorne Gallery is unlike any other gallery you'll experience, not just in Port Orford or the coast, anywhere! Your senses are greeted with an array of vibrant colors, shapes, materials and creativity in one of the most spectacular locations in Oregon. Many of the 30 artists are local, 10 are part of the Hawthorne family, all are unique. It is a must see place whether you visit once or often.

Are you ever going to be surprised at the size and quality of this gallery. Just excellent art. Not a tourist trap. Knowledgeable staff and well lit displays. Whoever would have thought that little Port Orford could support a gallery of this quality. We spent an hour here and really enjoyed it after having lunch next door at the Red Fish restaurant. A really decent stop on your road trip if you are so inclined

Featuring the work of three local artists, this gallery and garden is a nice art oasis in a beautiful area. Chris Hawthorne’s glass shows the influence of Dale Chihuly, with whom he studies. And the are a number of other artist and artisan shops in walking distance.

Do stop at the Hawthorne to wander through (and maybe select) their art - and then go next door to enjoy an excellent meal at the Redfish!

There is a wide variety of art in the gallery. Some of it serious, some for fun. I wish I had the room in my home and the money to purchase even one piece. Despite that, it is a great place to renew the soul and take in what the imagination can create.

The art that welcomes you on the walkway into Hawthorne Gallery is showstopper in itself; what you find inside is breathtaking. Chris, one of the owners/artists greeted us and spent much time with us, introducing us to the 20 some additional artists through their work. The gallery is beautifully designed, signed and each piece of art is beautifully displayed or hung. From local to world-renowned creatives, this gallery is an oasis for the eyes and soul. Located next to Battle Rock lookout, it is easy to find and parking is plentiful. Redfish restaurant next door, and part of the Hawthorne family provides a place to whet ones whistle, sate ones appetite and watch the Pacific Ocean do its magnificence. Hawthorne even has a room to rent that is exquisite. Enjoy the day there.

I sometimes wander the Gallery simply to relax and relieve stress. I enjoy speaking with Chris the Owner. I purchased a Bolo Tie, hand Crafted by a relative, a talented Family Member. It's beautiful and folks lean in to examine it every single time I wear it. I find myself matching shirts and jackets to it's colors rather than vice versa. See, I enjoy wearing art as well as studying the process and the inspiration and time it takes to create it. My home is yet to be an expression, so I'm relegated to smaller pieces, which they have on display along with larger works of Art. Expect to spend some time in a no pressure situation and really let it sink in, slowly.
