Literally the best independent theater in Portland!! Whether it’s the beer selection, popcorn, or just the portland vibes, you’ll love this place, especially if you’re a film lover. The people who bought the place last year really put their love into it and it shows.

The Cinemagic has been going strong since 1914. The popcorn is the best in the town, the food and beer are affordable, and they still open the shimmery gold curtains right before the movie starts. A+ small local theater. Many of the seats have been replaced, so it's good for your booty as well.

Cinemagic is not exactly the 'go to "movie house" but it certainly serves as a great standby. It's located near Ladd's Addition with its beautiful homes and streets and also the Hawthorne District - a very cool and eclectic area for tourists and locals alike. The movies, beer and pizza can make for a great afternoon or evening and you're supporting a local business!

I remember seeing this theater as I rode a bicyle by it back in the mid-1970's when it had a different name. Always wondered what it was like inside.
Yesterday I went to Cinemagic to see WONDER WOMAN and take advantage of theire $5 ll day Monday and Tuesday screenings. So I had the chance to see what the inside of the theater looks like now. This cinema was build a vey long time ago and back in 1914. That is when there were some great looking art deco Marquees.
I love that old style of marquee design.
The lobby is small and modest. They have a wide range of local beers. I ordered an Old Town Not Irish Red. and a medium pop corn. together they cost $9
There is only one screen in the Cinemagic. The seats seem to be a bit old. Kinda a brown and they have a lot of free play. They easily rock back. and they squeak a bit.
Although that somehow makes them comfortable. The room is painted a dark blue.
The restrooms are very very tiny. One was labeled Men's 1950. A toilet and a sink is all there is. Could you imagine the lines to the restroom back then?
Great Marquee, Great drinks, But the rest of this place is not so great. Not my cup of tea. I'll go to a place a wee bit larger to see films.

Just a local old movie theatre in a easy to find and get to location. Single screen, mostly 1st run stuff. no 3-D, etc. Good beer and cider. Wine, snacks, etc. Tuesdays are cheap. Lots of bars and places to eat within walking distance too.
