2nd time of visiting this cinema.. only 1 screen but shows the top films..and only $8 each.. comfortable seating..

Visited here today.. comfortable cinema with nice seats.. probably could do with a spruce up and fresh paint..

This is my absolutely favorite theater. The owner has renovated and restored a grand historic neighborhood landmark to modern digital standards, as well as entirely refreshed the interior; historic design, new refurbished materials. The picture is clear and bright. The sound is excellent. The $9 price for popular first-run movies is a great deal. The 8pm evening show time is extra convenient for those who want to have dinner at home after work before coming out, and who need to get up for work the next day. They employ local teens to run the ticket booth and concessions, giving them a way to gain meaningful employment experience. Local historic theaters are a part of Portland's quirky but friendly local color. Loving stewardship and maintenance, investment in the local community, invitingly clean and mellow, attracting smart and well-behaved audiences (including the kids), quality content and excellent prices. The Roseway is the overall best of the bunch. Highly recommend.

HORRIFIC BUSINESS - refuses to answer phone calls and multiple emails over multi-day period. In addition does NOT provide closed captioning devices for those who are hearing impaired.
For further context: I tried calling Roseway theater earlier this week to see if they offer closed captioning devices. I did so multiple times over multiple days, to no avail. Turns out there is no one to answer the phone -- it always goes straight to voicemail.
As such I sent an email, hoping my query could be responded to via that medium. Another repeat of no reply. I sent multiple email queries across multiple days. The emails showed as having been read/opened (mixmax email feature) - and despite this, whomever read the emails chose to not reply.
If you're running a business - you'd assume that there is a priority toward customer responsiveness and service. Not so with Roseway. I finally went into the theater in person to ask about closed captioning devices -- the young attendant informed me they do not offer them. They also told me the business owner is responsible for the automated phone service and following up on replies.
As such - the owner of Roseway theater has no values whatsoever with regards to their customers. It's also one thing to choose to ignore multiple (friendly) email and phone queries -- but another to choose to be completely unresponsive to someone querying with regard to *disability* access devices.
Overall, stay away from this theater if you don't want to support badly run businesses, let alone businesses which have no care for those with disabilities.

Went here because we were staying in the area (not much around here, but it is near the airport). It was pretty quite because the film was already out for five weeks. They change the film every week on Fridays.
The chairs are really comfy and the popcorn is extra yummy (although slightly stale when we went at the 8:00 PM show).
I would recommend going here if you're in the area and want to catch watch a movie you missed on the bigger screens.

This is a great way to see a new release movie and in 3-D at times too. It is a large single screen theater and they have a reasonably priced concession stand too. I always support local over getting gouged by Regal at the mall.

The Roseway looks like an old neighborhood theatre from the outside but is a very modern, comfortable facility. Rather than cutting it into smaller theaters, the owner chose to keep it as one big room. The art deco feel remains, but the seats have been upgraded to luxurious rockers with cup holders. Prices are cheaper than the multiplex ($7/regular $9/3-D) and parking (even on the street) is plentiful and close by. The projection and sound systems are new and first-rate, all-digital equipment. The theatre usually shows first-run movies and even some in 3D. We like it because it is close to where we live and not crowded or inside a mall.

Recently updated 1920's movie theater. Numerous historical attributes were kept. Digital sound/picture and new seats were added. Cool place. Great popcorn. For only $6 any show, any time - first run. Can't beat it.
