What a great local park! Plenty of trails to get your nature fix. Nice shop and restrooms available. Trees and foliage are gorgeous. Well marked trails.

I happened on this hike when in a search from hotel room. Such a wonderful run/walk rich in history and views and trails. There is a little restaurant at the bottom for a quick bite when done

What a treat! We explored this urban state park for the first time on a sunny October Sunday and had a blast. Dense forest with well-maintained trails signed at every junction. Paved, accessible Trillium trail begins at visitor center, as does packed-earth MainTrail and others that form 2-mile and 4-mile loops. Fantastic array of mushrooms and several wooden bridges crossing the namesake creek. Stumps and other fun kid scramble zones. One suspension bridge is closed for repairs; it is so marked. Enough parking. No fee. Visitor center closed due to Covid, and no paper trail maps were available; I recommend downloading one online for your phone. Horses allowed on some of the trails; leashed dogs on all. Most users wore masks. We were rarely alone - it’s a popular park - but still found serenity.

There is ample parking, but gets filled up quickly on weekends: A lot of families with kids. Visitor Center is closed, but very clean restrooms are accessible. Many trails - some short, some long, some flat, some with gradient. Natural setting, but didn't see any wildlife. Worth the visit.

This park is the product of a local, grassroots group formed many years ago that was dedicated to preserving the lower Tryon Creek watershed from development. It is a gem rivaling the more recognized Forest Park and is complete with a Nature Center, classes, group activity supports and a dedicated group of staff and volunteers.
Exploring its many trails any time of year is fantastic and can be done by anyone, regardless of their physical abilities.
It's a must see and must do for anyone living or visiting the Portland area.
Dogs welcome, but must remain on leash.

Tryon Natural area is small, very pretty, close-in to Portland's city center and a good place to take young hikers on a .5-1.0 mile hike on easy terrain. Not intended for serious hikers.

I was running with my dog this morning in Tryon state park when I realized someone was chasing me. I thought maybe I was mistaken since it was the middle of the day, so I ran a little faster. When I looked back, I saw that a man dressed in all black was definitely chasing and now gaining on me. He then started yelling at me. I stopped and he continued going off on me because evidently I had gone down a private trail. Completely terrified I apologized for not seeing the sign and told him I would never go down it again. He then said that the manager doesn’t react kindly to people going down that trail and threatened to cite me.

Anyways, I was shook for the rest of the morning from being pursued and threatened by a park employee. The people that work this park are inappropriately mean and I suggest staying away from them whenever possible. Otherwise it’s an ok place.

Tryon Creek SP is a delightful spot just outside Portland. It's easy to access and has lots of trails , some gentle, some a little steeper. It's a great spot for a 30 minute hike or a longer stay of an hour or more. Very beautiful, especially for a place so near the CBD

This is a must visit if you enjoy natural areas. Great hiking and biking trails. Weekends are packed with people jockeying for the limited parking spaces, so a weekday visit would be better if possible.

I wasn't prepared for the hills! It is an absolutely beautiful place to run. I crossed so many footbridges! The trees, the foliage, the creek, it was gorgeous. I went on a Friday morning and the place was fairly quiet. Most people there were walking their dog. I got five miles in and could easily have doubled that without hitting the same trail twice.
