We had never been to Oregon so we had zero knowledge of the wine region or the wineries. We spoke by phone and I explained our interests and preferences. Based on that, Carol did a wonderful job selecting wineries in two areas. The first day we toured with Carol and Chris. The second day we toured with Nancy. Both days were fabulous and the wines and wineries were outstanding. All the guides are very personable and add a lot of value to the day. The lunch spots (which are included) were great as well. I wish we had more time to more days!

We were in Oregon over the July 4 th holiday 2015. I had contacted Carol at Wine Tours Northwest to arrange two days of private tours. She asked me what type of winery and what specifically we would like to see and she put together two phenomenal days for us. We met winery owners as well as the winemakers. We also got to have a tasting in a cave right alongside of the barrels.
This was a surprise trip for my husband who just retired. We both love wine and enjoy adding to our wine collection. Pinot Noir being a favorite of ours, the Oregon wineries were a perfect choice. Matt loved the trip and totally enjoyed the wine tours. We also learned a lot. We personally enjoyed the Willamette Valley as opposed to Napa and Sonoma. Oregon is much less commercialized and a lot more personal.
Once you have planned your trip to the Willamette Valley, please call Carol or Chris to plan your wine tours. You will not be disappointed! .

My mother and I went on a full day, private tour with Nancy and enjoyed every minute. Nancy picked us up at our hotel in the Pearl District and we headed out to the Columbia River Gorge. We had a morning of beautiful vistas and amazing waterfalls and learned about the history and nature of the region.
We went on to Hood River and visited four wineries with a stop for lunch in a very scenic location. Knowing our preferences, Nancy chose wineries that specialized in red wines. Each winery had its own character and we enjoyed each visit. We had discussions about winemaking, grape growing and food pairing with Nancy, the wineries' staff and even some of the winemakers themselves.
It was everything a wine tour should be and certainly one of the highlights of our stay in Portland. Thank you to Nancy and Wine Tours Northwest for such a great day.

My daughter and I were interested in getting to several of the wineries near Portland and not driving. I booked this tour partially based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were correct to do so! Chris and Carol, her Mom - Mother and Daughter picked us promptly at our hotel (La Quinta in Wilsonville) and we were off to enjoy a BEAUTIFUL day of weather and wine. We were treated to everything from a small and intimate winery to a larger production facility to one not open to the public. Being Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir fans we were very satisfied with the varieties we were able to taste. Obviously we liked some better than others and ordered wine for shipping from 3 of the 5 we visited. So very happy they ship to NC, as many of the wines we ordered are not available either on the east coast or are only available from the winery. We also enjoyed a delightful lunch. Some of the wineries are subtle, in that there are no signs because they aren't open to the public without an appointment.

My friends and I came up to Portland for a girls' trip. Even though I grew up in Oregon I had never enjoyed wine while I lived here. So we finally made plans to taste some Oregon Pinot.
Mike picked us up promptly at our hotel and we were on our way to the first of five wineries that day. He provided a wealth of knowledge about the area and was a very gracious host.
Certain wineries were "busy" so he bypassed Four Graces and another place so we could have a more intimate experience.
* Dobbes: Least scenic of the wineries but decent.
* Stoller: Gorgeous surroundings and great rose. Mike finagled us tastings of the Syrah and Tempranillo, which were also good. Best prices on the trip.
* Trisaetum: Not impressed with the Pinot but the dry white Riesling was excellent.
* Saffron Fields: Prettiest property. I could have stayed here all day. The wine was good but was the only place none of us purchased from.
* Colene Clemons: Pretty hilltop property and some amazing wines. Only four pours but all of us bought the Adrianne or the Victoria.
There may have been one more in there but I started to lose count.
Lunch was at Barrel 47 in Carlton, which served tasty American food. We had a budget of $12 each, which got us a soup/salad or a full sandwich with fries.
The full day was from 10:30 to just after 6 pm. And if I came back for another wine your I'd hit up WTNW again.

I would highly recommend Doc Wilson if you are considering a guided tour of Oregon wineries.
We were visiting Oregon coming from the east coast. So the Oregon wine industry was new to us.
Doc picked us up at the home of our guests. You let him know what type of wineries you are interested in, what areas in our case we were interested in the Willamette Valley area. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the wine industry in Oregon and well known at the wineries. On the drive to the wineries he talked about the history of Oregon wine, about the taste testing process. He was very informative during the drive and at the wineries.
We visited 5 wineries that day plus a lunch that is included in the price of the tour. The wineries all featured pinots but the pinots differed as did the wineries and personalities.
He picked us up in Portland at 10:00 in the morning and we got back around 5:00 I think.

We recently had a wonderful day with the folks at Wine Tours Northwest. Roger and Chris picked us up at the hotel and we were off on our private tour. They chose five great wineries based on some phone calls and email exchange we had in advance. They provided excellent commentary, history, and wine knowledge. We tasted wonderful wines. They also took us to a great place for lunch. It was a nicely paced day. We also had great conversation about travel in general and Portland restaurants and sites on the way back. I'd highly recommend this company for their attention to detailed planning and making sure their customers were comfortable and satisfied. All-in-all a wonderful day.

My wife and I booked a private tour with Wine Tours Northwest. I selected them due to favorable, no excellent, reviews, and they were able to fit us in on relatively short notice. Nancy was our tour guide and she was great. She is very knowledgeable about the area, wines and food, having previously owned a good sized catering company in Portland.
We had a full day and went to the Gorge, which was beautiful. We had a very nice lunch at a golf club that had a great view of Mt. Hood, spectacular. We then toured a bit more and stopped at 3 wineries. Nancy covered the key sights during the tour but she also was very flexible in that we could hike a bit or not and she would adjust the schedule.
I can see why they have excellent reviews. They are well worth the money. My wife and I want to get back to Portland, it is a great city. I would highly recommend using Wine Tours Northwest..

Most of this company's reviews are on Yelp which is why their lacking so many on tripadvisor. This is the BEST wine tour company I have ever worked with. Mike was our tour guide. He is one of the most special men I have ever met and I was privileged to spend an entire day with him as our host. He picked us up promptly at 10am from our hotel and took us to the first winery he thought we would like based on our discussion months prior on the phone. He is well liked and respected at every winery we visited. He would choose our next destination based on his sense of our interest and likes at the current winery. It really felt like he handcrafted the tour to fit our likes and wants. He is the sweetest man and I'm so happy he took us. I had also been on a tour with Doc who is else a great host and knows a lot about the industry. The wine tour is exceptionally priced considering it covers all the tastings, all transportation and lunch. Not to mention - Oregon wines are SPECTACULAR. I personally think they are much better than the Napa region. They are very very crisp and I filled up my 12 bottle wine box immediately. They are also reasonably priced and most have exceptional views of the Oregon landscape. Absolutely loved and cannot wait to revisit!!
