This theater is fantastic. It’s old vintage style has been well taken care of, they show movies in 70mm and even Quentin Tarantino has come to this theater to express how much he values it. They serve kombucha and beer on tap, ice cream from ruby jewel and sizzle pie pizza! They show vaulted films, host events for rare movies and film festivals like the Oscar shorts. I go every year.

I am a big fan of old film Noir movies and have gone to other cities to see these classic screened in Theaters. It is fantastic to see that The Hollywood Theater has this I Wake Up Dreaming: Film Noir Festival. it 's truly a great addition.
I went to see the first night screening of OUT OF THE PAST and this was a near sold out show. Then I went to the Second Noir Night last night and saw RIDE THE PINK HORSE and there was a big audience to see that one also. I have a bought a ticket to go to the third night to see 99 RIVER STREET, a Noir film that I have never seen before and really looking forward to this change to see it. The forth and last night is a really great detective NOIR-- KISS ME DEADLY. I have seen it before... and I am sure temptation will sweep me back into The Hollywood Theater to see this Mike Hammer film.
It doesn't get any better then this for me. I live for this NOIR stuff. Real classic gems of Hollywood. Both of 'em. Tinseltown and The Hollywood Theater. And the host for this festival is Film Noir expert Elliot Lavine.

I really love this old movie house and the story behind its being saved in order to provide quality films over the years that just get better all the time. Prices are very reasonable! In addition to current Hollywood films, ti still serves as a great place to see indie and out of the mainstream movies. As a theater pub they sell giant slices of pizza, beer and other beverages as well as a wide selection of concessions. On the multiple screens there is always something interesting playing. Special events and special guests are an added bonus to their programs. They have done a marvelous job at restoring this palace; upstairs there’s a cool lounge while waiting for the movies to start. There is usually parking in the neighborhood but it is also very easily accessed by public transit.

I have always loved the classic Vincent Price films. And here was a chance to see one of them and hear what His Daughter Victoria Price had to say about her fathers films his actor friends, and what it was like growing up as his daughter.
The Hollywood Theater this weekend showed two Vincent price films. One each day that Victoria Price was guest speaker at. House On Haunted Hill. And House of Wax.
The question and Answer session after the film was great. And Victora was a real gem. Entertaining. Humorous. and had some great stories to share. Yes, she was Priceless.
What was it like at Halloween for her? She said that her father would take her and her friends out to go trick or treating. While they went to the door for candy, her father would hide in the bushes and leap out and scare the tick or treaters..
Victoria Price mentioned that she would be back during the Lovecraft thing the Hollywood Theater is doing in October. This made me wonder if there is a Vincent Price movie they will screen that fits into a Lovecraft style theme. I am intrigued for sure.
It is great that the Hollywood Theater has these unique screenings. Always a treat to go here at this Iconic theater. and see something special.

Love this old movie house, turned theater pub. They sell giant slices of pizza at normal prices, plus beer and other beverages. Only a few screens but there’s always something good playing. First run films at a fraction of the price. Upstairs there’s a cool lounge while waiting for the movies to start.

I have enjoyed the Hollywood Theater's screenings of old silent movie classics. From Buster Keaton to Lon Chaney's Phantom Of The Opera. All of them with live organ music during the full film.
The live organ music adds so much to the viewing experience of these silent movies. Bringing them to life and adding a fresh dimension to them. Making them seem fresh and new.
I am thrilled that now the Hollywood Theater will be adding a refurbished pipe organ that was last played in the 1930's. It will be introduced this week on November 24th for the screening of the Classic Silent Movie-- NOSTERATU.
I bought a ticket for the Sat night show at 7 PM. I have a hunch that this film could sell out. And I wanted to be sure that I will be able to see it. And to hear this grand old pipe organ for its introduction. This is going to be a real treat. Something to be truly thankful for.

It was 100F outside and I was so glad I had a Ticket to go see one of the Summer 70MM films that the Hollywood Theater was showing in July this summer. This was one of the first to kick off their 70MM summer films. And it was SOLD OUT. I was lucky indeed to have this ticket.
I arrived early and got out of the heat. Got a drink and pop corn at the concession stand and walked into the theater and piucked a seat down front. I noticed an organ in front of the stage sitting over at the left hand side. The keys were lit up. I had never seen this organ at other shows I was at.
Eventually at time approached for INDIAN AND THE LAST CRUSADE... a gent came and sat down at the organ and started to play. The tune was "Hooray For Hollywood" this was followed by others that sounded nice to hear an organ playing. And then he started playing INDIAN JONES themed tunes and the crowd let out a cheer.
The other films left for the Summer 70MM Movies left to screen here are 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY which I saw here when it first came out. And Hichcock's VERTIGO.
both are great films to see in 70MM.
The 70MM films sell out fast at the Hollywood. and the Hollywood Theater is the only Theater in Oregon that can show 70MM films.
I also picked up a flier titled PIPE ORGAN PICTURES. This Fall the Hollywood Theater will be screening three silent movies with the Pipe Orang playing Accompaniment. One of them is PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on October 27.
Gee just in time for Hallowean. Now there's a real classic!

This was my first visit to the Hollywood Theater. My wife and I went to see the documentary, Love and Terror on the Howling Plains of Nowhere. The writer of the book, Poe Ballantine, and the director of the documentary, Dave Jannetta, were there to present and had a Q&A after. It was a great film in a great venue. The Hollywood was build in the 1920s and still has the feel of a great old theater. They show such a variety of movies and they have a very good menu (tables in the theater). I highly recommend this place!
