I am surprised to see that the Expo Center came up to review. The only reason to visit here would be a Home remodel show, pet show, gun show, or flea market, Van shoe event, etc.
I am not sure when it was built but it looks to be the 60's.
There are several large buildings so more than one event can be going on at a time.
There is a large parking lot and parking is usually $8. It is also the end of the Max light rail Expo line which is also another option.
There are just a couple of ways in and traffic can be an issue at times in the area.
The Expo center is located just south of the Columbia River off I5 and Marine Drive. It is near Delta Park and Portland International Raceway in the old site of Vanport which use to be a city until it washed away in the early 1950's.

The Expo facilities are not exactly that wonderful that house the antique show three times a year. The place is a bit dilapidated.
The food vendors are expensive and the food atrocious. I hear the captive audience of the antique vendors complaining every time.
With all the wonderful food in Portland, you would think they would contract some decent vendors.
I would suggest carrying a bag lunch if you are spending the day there---especially after paying $8 for the parking, there is no re-entry. So if you were to leave for lunch, you will have to pay another $8 for parking.
The alternative is taking the light rail MAX train which is located on the other side of the parking lot.
I will return for the antique show, but not for the food.

My friends and I attended the Portland Home and Garden show at the Expo Center. I was amazed at the size of this facility, how well organized, and how clean it was. The parking lot was packed (very popular show!), so luckily we rode the Lite Rail in from Beaverton and avoided all the parking hassles and the almost always traffic jammed I-5 (either direction). Its a bit of a walk from the train station to the Expo front doors but there is a covered walkway. Very nice...

Very nice & helpful staff. Roomy facilities. Bar on site. Convenient location right off the highway. We were there with my daughter's cheer team for a cheer competition and it was very accommodating.

We went for the Christmas Expo. Very scanty on decorations! $8 to park, $8 per person entrance fee. Children under 3 are free. Not very festive at all. Had a warehouse feel. Lots of vendors under 2 roofs. Terrible food there and expensive. $4 reheated pretzels. Hard to find any bargains. Overall a disappointment. We are sorry we went. Save your time and money and just go downtown to the Pearl District or another one of the cities attractions.

This is a nice large exposition center. It is in dire need of updating though.If you come off of I-5 using exit 6B you need to really pay attention. When you turn off Marine Drive to get into the front parking area for the expo there is no sign letting you know where to turn. Everytime I have been here, I always see people having to turn around because they missed the narrow tree overgrown road. Parking prices are high, also. The seats at the snack bar areas are cheap quality and scary to sit on.

The Portland Expo Center is an old facility that was opened in 1959 for Oregon's Centennial, and it does show its age. There are two or three separate buildings so more than one show can be going on at one time. They are all very plain and warehouse like with not much in them except a plain concrete floor. For some events though like the pet fair we volunteered for it works ok. Parking is 8 dollars but the light rail does go here.

My favorite item in this show is the Lowrance Learning Center. It always gives me insight and new learnings about running my electronics.

Four of us went and found it to be warm and full of bright shinny boats and equiptment. Loved Active water sports I bought a new wake board,
The food service was sloww but the beer was cold and the food was Hot.
All in all a great time.
We found a new friend serving marion berry infused Vodtka from WILD ROOTS out of Bend. Dont remember the girls name but she was not shy about pouring samples! Both of us couples left with a bottle!

This is not the newest place in which to hold a convention, but there are a number of great pluses here: The staff is so very friendly. This place is easy to get into and out of, even with vehicles. The staff works hard to maintain the space. The lobby areas had been freshly painted the week we arrived and new carpet was going in the day after we left. We had no issues moving show attendees in and out. There is plenty of parking. The Portland MAX yellow line ends right at the end of the property. Access to I-5 is quick and easy. The ONLY issue we had were a few minor roof leaks. The hall staff was prompt in cleaning up. All in all, despite its age, this is a great show spot.
