We've been season ticket holders for Broadway plays for a few years and the we have really enjoyed it. As with many public venues, the number of women's restrooms could be improved particularly since they allow bringing food &drink into the venue. **Tip: if you want to pick up a drink/snack at the intermission, pay prior to the show & they'll have it out for you, no waiting in line!

I watched "Moulin Rouge." Awesome show, an awesome venue, and awesome staff. But they did not allow re-entry during intermission! That's right! So if I wanted to go outside, get some fresh air during intermission, or stretch my legs, I could NOT get back inside for the second half! So, instead, they kept me in the lobby area, with people talking loudly, coughing, seeing and sucking in people's air - a covid petri dish to be sure! Either stay away, or be prepared. NO RE-ENTRY

I bought season tickets this year specifically to see Hamilton. The cast got the flu and 4 shows were rescheduled. They rescheduled only one show and they did it on a weekday midday. Many of us were unable to go. And those that were able had to pay more for seat changes or couldn’t get seats at all since the Keller thought it was acceptable to replace 4 full shows with only one. This is terrible and I will no longer be supporting the Keller auditorium after this abysmal customer service fiasco. If I could rate zero stars, I would. I’m incredibly disappointed.

I went to see Mean Girls on Nov 13, 2021. Sat in aisle C, row Q; very good seats. The performances and stagecraft were very good and the scene-changing video effects were especially impressive. However, the sound was a problem. Much of the dialogue and musical lyrics were lost in the loud cacophony of the chorus and orchestra. Many of the jokes fell flat as the audience could not hear or understand the dialogue. (I experienced the same problem at the Keller years ago at the show Rent.) Only when the volume level of the orchestra was low or during a quiet solo were the lines comprehensible. I don't know if this is a problem with the Keller's inherent acoustics or the sound engineers' ability to craft good balanced sound. But when you walk out of the Keller after watching a well-produced musical but knowing that you missed half of the script and most of the humor, the overall feeling is disappointment.

Long time season ticket holder. Shows are great, but be prepared that you are going to be extremely frustrated with the support and the administration of the organization. Very difficult and it gets worse every year.

Great venue but the seats are uncomfortable! Especially for sitting quietly for 2.5 hours or more. Saw Miss Siagon and the sound was difficult to follow along with the singing, and not even going to discuss accessing a bathroom during intermission, sheesh!

I've been to the Keller Auditorium many times, this time for Madame Butterfly, and, as ever, the performance was outstanding. I've been to the Met, too, and the cast in Madame Butterfly could easily sing at the Met - they were that good. Unfortunately, and for reasons I just don't understand, this wonderful venue spends next to nothing on food and drink. Why? Every ballpark in America makes money hand over fist with concessions while the Keller offers cookies, pretzels, et al instead of delectable finger foods that they could charge mightily for and sell out. The same can be said for their drink offerings. I'm not suggesting they open a fully stocked bar, but red, white or water leaves everything to be desired. Still, you go there for the performances and they never disappoint, so eat before or after and enjoy the performances. Someday they'll wise up and stop missing out on all the money they are leaving in patron pockets.

Thank you for your review of the Keller Auditorium! We are so thrilled that you enjoyed Portland Opera's Madama Butterfly with us! We do have various concessions available throughout the Keller, and our Keller Cafe is open 90 minutes prior to evening performances of the Oregon Ballet Theatre, Portland Opera and Broadway in Portland. You can see the current menus on our website. We offer a full bar at our Martini Bar, also located inside the Keller Auditorium. We hope that you'll join us for another performance soon! You can make reservations for the Keller Cafe by calling 503.432.2908 or online at our website. Thank you!

Well, Wicked was absolutely fantastic, I had wanted to see that for a while. Sat center close to stage and it was worth the price, but the row in front sat unoccupied throughout performance so it was better than usual. Really got to enjoy the appearance and expressions of the performers. This venue is a little dated and as others point out the lobby is a little crowded (but not impossible). Acoustics were great from that seat. Did not try cafe and with the time between opening and performance I'm not sure I would, but the price and menu looked good.

My wife and I have been to the Keller many times over the years and have never been disappointed with the theatre, the shows, the staff: everything was great.

Except tonight, the last night of WIcked, we went to the Keller Cafe. For $25 a person, we got cold vegies, dried out chicken, really salty ham, stale rolls and lettuce and tomatoes for a salad. We had reservations for 5 pm. so you would expect the food to be warm and fresh and not dried out.

Nope.

I don't know who the Keller got to cater this disaster, but they should fire them.

I highly recommend the theatre, but avoid the Keller Cafe like the plague.

I recently paid my first visit to the Keller Auditorium for a matinee showing of Wicked. (Wicked was great, by the way.) Here are my observations as a senior walking with a cane:

As mentioned in another review, the lobby is fairly small and can get very crowded as people wait for seating to open. Lobby opens one hour before the performance; seating opens 30 mins. before curtain.

Ladies restroom on the main level is fairly small, but the lines seem to move quickly. There are two handicapped stalls. There is another one on the upper level which is apparently not usually as crowded.

I sat in the orchestra section (main floor). I was surprised to see how steep the aisle down to the seats was (it flattens out about halfway down). The ushers are unable to physically assist you down due to liability reasons, but one walked backward in front of me just in case I started to fall. Going slow I made it just fine. Coming out at the end was climbing a hill! And thank you to the several people who offered to assist me!

I had asked in the forum about the level of the a/c since sometimes it can be frigid in theatres like this. It was a hot day - upper 80's - but I took a sweater just in case. I didn't use it, temp was fine for me; but the girl next to me in a sleeveless top and shorts may have been a little cold.

Some people have remarked on the sound quality. I had no problems with the speaking/singing parts as they were all individually miked. However, when the ensemble sang, it was difficult for me to understand the words. Not exactly sure why.

Clothing was universally casual. Might be a little more formal at nights, but not really an issue.

There are at least three parking garages within a block or two. I found a nice handicapped spot in the garage on 3rd St. just half a block from the Keller. Saturday rates - $6.00 for all day, pay iin advance.

This is not exactly a reviewable feature, but part of what made the day so pleasant was that everyone was nice and helpful! From the parking lot attendant to the Keller employees to my fellow attendees. And I am happy to say no cell phones going off, no flashes popping, nobody talking during the performance. A polite audience makes a big difference.
