Went to the park - Nice playground, impressive trees, lots of places for a picnic.

My kids enjoy going on the slides and being able to jump off the diving board in the deep pool. The only downside to the aquatic park is the excessive chlorine. It can get so strong at times that our eyes feeling like they are burning and this includes those who are just observing from the side tables not just the swimmers.

I gave this 4 stars because I am including the community center which increases the park rating. The park itself is fine. It has picnic tables, a play structure, tennis courts, bathrooms, and grassy areas. The community center though has a variety of activity areas including a basketball court, workout room, pools, and a basement roller skating rink. The pools include a fun kids' area with splash fountains, current area, whirlpool area, curving slide, and a lap swim section. There is also a hot tub for adults. Be sure to check the community center for hours and costs. I don't have a membership so pay as I go when I take kids to the pool. They have special hours for open swim and sometimes have cheaper rate days.

We would like to live in the neighborhood but for now we will have to drive. We love the old buildings and ponds that used to be used for Portland's drinking water. There are lots of trails but they aren't for the "faint of heart" because there are lots of hills to climb. It's so nice to see people on bikes, on food, with dogs and families enjoying nature. The birds sing and the breeze gently moves the ever green trees. This is a GREAT place to enjoy nature right in the middle of town. After you are done you can head right down to the Hawthorne districts and get some delicious food or just grove.

We went to a birthday party that was held in the rec center of the park. It was a private party and the rink was pretty nice for how small it was. They had a room for guests to eat and relax.
