See a movie for half price or better. Great selections of micro beers. Popcorn for half price. Pizza by the slice from a nearby pizza parlor. This is my favorite theater if they have a movie thats on my "to see" list.

We go here often, reasonable prices for top rated films after they finish in the expensive theaters. Always clean, comfortable vintage neighborhood in an area of great restaurants and they offer great pizza slices in the theater. They even offer child care.

Went to The Academy for the first time ever last week. This is what a movie theatre should be! Clean, classic old theatre with a very friendly and helpful staff, great selection of local beer and food that you can take into the theatre, and popcorn done right! Regal could take a few lessons from The Academy Theatre!! To top it off, we went to a matinee, and got 2 movie tickets, their biggest popcorn(the best I’ve had in a theatre in a long time), and a beer, all for only $20! Oh, almost forgot, they showed exactly one preview, then went right to the movie! Yay!!!

We went to see RBG and we were very impressed with the lovely little theater. It was very clean. Nice concession bar with lots of reasonably pried choices. Friendly staff and the admission prices took us back to another time. All in all a great experience even though we live in Vancouver and the traffic was a nightmare.

This theaters is like a seconf run theater that also have some specialty films. I wanted to see the Resored Yellow Submarine Beatles film that came back to theaters for it 50th Anniversary. And I am a bit behind on other films. Wanted to see the Avengers Infinity War. and saw that they were both showing at the Academy.
I checked the times for both films. and noted that The Academy has a deal on Monday. A double movie deal on Mondays. If you see two consecutive films it only costs you $6 now that is a great deal. And we are having a heat wave so being inside and enjoying these films and the comfort of The Academy Theater was excellent.
Also found the concessions nicely priced. Medium Pop Corn and a Large Coca-cola only came to $8.50 Instead of the something like $12.99 I paid at a Regal Theater last week.

We’d not been to the Academy before but decided to give it a shot. We found a nice admission price, fresh popcorn, comfortable seats, a larger-than-expected auditorium (they have several), friendly staff, a pleasant lobby, and good quality sight and sound. We’ll certainly return.

This is a far cry different than the brand new theaters scattered around town.
What a cool place to check out and take a step back.
You can't beat the prices and when I went, there weren't any crowds to battle.

I have driven by this classic looking movie house for decades. I think I may have been in this theater way back in the 1970's before it was closed down. But I have never been inside it since it was renovated and reopened around a ten years ago.
The Academy Theater goes back to 1948 and it still has that great distinctive look of a grand movie house with its distinctive two story dome and classic marquee. Inside the theater has three small theaters. The seats are very comfortable reclining seats with high backs and clear view of the screen. So you are seeing the screen and not the audience in front and in back of you. And you have great legroom as well.
You can purchase drinks that include a wide range of beers and a few ciders. I ordered Seattle Cider to go with my medium popcorn. Together both cost around $9.
The movies screened at the Academy change every Friday. They show special event films and recent films that are almost first run. And the prices are very attractive for those looking for a bargain. It's $4 for Adults, $3 for Seniors 65+, and $3 for children 12 years and under.
They have Double Feature Monday where you can watch any two consecutive movies for $6 for adults and $4 for children and seniors.
The best offer they have is Two For Tuesday where you can pay for one ticket and get another ticket for free. Great for couples or for a parent bringing their child to see a movie with them.

I came here on Mother's Day with my daughter. There are no independent theaters where I live so this was a treat! Friendly staff, wide selection of affordable food and beverages including local coffees, teas, salads, etc. Admission was a positive bargain at $4, and there was a good selection of movies playing. Comfy seats and quiet atmosphere. Would love to come back and spend some time exploring the neighborhood as well.

How early do we need to arrive to purchase tickets? We've tried going a couple times and it was sold out each time.
