Used this to get all around Portland for a week. Very easy low boarding. It runs every 15 minutes. Only $2.80/ride (although you tap your card before boarding and I never had anyone check that I had paid). Very easy and clean.

TriMet seems to always get attention when something negative happens. This is unfortunate. It is a cheap and easy alternative to driving and parking around town. There are characters on the TriMet, but I imagine they look at us as if we are the strange ones in their city. If you're visiting Portland, save yourself time and money, by taking a ride on TriMet.

The TriMet on the whole is not as dumpy as you would expect from Portland. The parking lot I left my vehicle was super sketchy, but, to my surprise, it was not bashed in when I returned. It appears they have decent security to make this a usable service. The actual transit cars are in passable shape. There were all kinds of delays of service when I visited due to lack of operators, so that is my top deduction. The whole point of public transport is convenience. Waiting an extra 45 minutes for a train is anything but. Once on a train, they run relatively slow with several minute stops often. This happened so much that people would switch from one train to another that were going in the same direction just because the train they were on was parked for too long. If you can handle all that, just sit back, relax, and enjoy your tour of the tent cities on the tracks. Not great, but if you have to...

Very easy to use and can use your own credit/debit card to pay, don’t need a separate travel card. Only $5 for the day. Good access to the main areas of Portland and airport

Exploring downtown Portland was very easy on the TriMet- Portland Streetcar. Ticket was $2.50 which allowed 3 hours of on and off access. Tickets can be purchased at the main stops. Streetcars are clean and information is listed in the car and announcements are made prior to each stop. Great was to see Portland without having to walk the entire city.

No, I do not believe you can purchase the HOP Pass at PDX. The card is $3 and are only available at Fred Meyer, Albertsons, Safeway and New Seasons. Once you have it registered on the My Hop Card website, you add money to the card. You can also add money to the card at the place you bought it, I believe.
