For such a well reviewed venue, consider me surprised in the worst way possible. Saw Nick Hakim perform here. The last thing anyone wants to see at a performance of this caliber, is to have a talented performer diminished by a shoddy sound system, poor sound engineers, muddy reverberation and levels, and microphones set so low that the vocalist is inaudible. Several times the lighting crew had, for some indescribable reasons, directed the lighting straight into the performer's eyes. When the artist pleads multiple times with a lighting crew "Please", "It's too bright", "I can't see", etc. and then the artist goes so far as to pull a hood over his face so he can finish his performance... it reeks of incompetence. When the artist cuts his set short due to the problems, It smacks of amateurism. When your own attendees have to instruct and shout at the sound guys, it's time to do some self examination. This was a concert that was originally scheduled for the Doug Fir Lounge. A far superior venue. My advice for those whose concerts get moved from Doug Fir to this venue, is simple. Request a refund. Fire your sound people. Fire your lighting crew. Overhaul your staff. Better yet, find a bulldozer and put this sorry venue out of its misery.

WAY oversold, lousy sound, and exceptionally obnoxious and agro staff. Unfortunate as it's a decent room, but management clearly doesn't care about people's experience. Portland has great venues in Rev Hall, Alladin, Mississippi Studio and even the Crystal. I won't be going back to the Wonder and would discourage anyone from patronizing the place.

We had a great time at the Wonder Ballroom for the Murder By Death show. The venue wasn't overly crowded, merchandise and restrooms easily accessible. I really liked that there was a 21+ lounge downstairs and an outdoor patio. I would definitely go back!

This is a small venue for concerts which made it a great place to visit. We enjoyed a type of music that was new to us, but as I looked through the list of upcoming concerts, I found that a variety of types of music play here. I wish I could go every night.
On the particular night we went, the person closest to our age group was at least 35 years junior to us, and I think being surrounded by so many young adults who know how to enjoy themselves made us enjoy the evening all the more.

Great intimate venue to see a show. This is the second show I've seen there and always can see the performers with no problem.

My excitement level was at all-time high for Chronixx/Jah 9 live in concert. My experience with the Wonder Ballroom is limited as not many acts play there that I am familiar with. I showed up while the pre-show DJ was warming up the crowd.
I inform you that the Wonder Ballroom is in "progressive" Portland, the largest city in a state that recently legalized recreational marijuana. This artists also are devout Rasta. I entered the venue, had to check bags as I was traveling, and took my place on the dance floor next to others. I hadn't gotten fully Irie before entering the venue, so I decided to risk taking a few low-key puffs from my pipe. A security guard was on me in a minute and escorted me out of the venue.
If a venue doesn't allow the enjoyment of herb at a reggae concert in a State where herb is legal, than I don't want to attend that venue or support it in any way!

This was our first time to see a show here. It is a dated building , but a very cool vibe with stairs that go downstairs to The Bunk room where you can grab food.

The Wonder Ballroom was the perfect venue for the Ginuwine concert. We had so much fun. Much better than the Crystal Ballroom for sure. Parking is a bit sketchy, but that is the only negative.

Great 21+ show. Sound quality was fantastic though pretty loud compared to other indoor shows I've been to at the front. Door staff, bartenders, and security were all very nice. Only one bathroom in the entrance so the line can be a bit long at times. Other than that, overall great venue.

Went to see Boombox, was great show. Nicely seperated adult/minor section. Downstairs bar & smoking section for 21+. Not sure where minors went to smoke or if there's an area. Good sound and ample space to dance.

Can a minor attend a 21 and up show with their parents at wonderballroom? I know at the Aladdin you can do this.

They have bars on both floors, there was not a roped of section you would see when minors are admitted. They card you at the door. I would think the individual shows would say "minors permitted" like you see 21 and over.
