Beautiful falls all along the way with plenty of rest stops. Trail dificulty was moderate and not crowded (very important in this time of COVID). No problme with parking.

One of the best views in central Oregon that I feel is somewhat of an easier hike considering the view! It is uphill the whole way, but the pitch isn't too steep. I am not is top shape and was able to make it. Views of Broken Top Mountain to the North and Mount Bachelor to the South. Elevation gain of 1400 ft. in about 1.5 miles. Worth the huffing and puffing!

The trailhead is about 20 miles from Bend. It is 4 miles up and back. Starts in the forest. Views improve as you climb and the forest thins. Summit is at elevation 7780'. You get good views of Mount Bachelor, South Sister, Middle Sister and Broken Top. Saw two hikers on our way up and nine hikers coming down on a Sunday morning.

Tumalo Mt. nestled amidst the Cascade range and provides a great hiking experience in the summer and great snowshoe hiking and cross-country skiing in the winter. Remember to dress appropriately for whichever season you choose. Proper footgear is a must. Some parts can be steep and blisters can develop if not wearing shoes designed for hiking. Be prepared for beautiful vistas from the East or West. Plan your hike for early morning or evening and you will be rewarded with a picture taking moment to remember for a lifetime. Pack light and take plenty of water and some energy bars and you are all set.

I’ve climbed Tumalo Mt. a few times and love it! From the parking lot, across from the lodge at Mt. Bachelor, you will be starting your uphill immediately. The path is lined by wild flowers, in part, and vistas of the Cascades and high desert. The elevation gain is about 1300ft in 4 miles, but worth it. I would consider this to be a moderate hike.

Found this on TA after being told about it by a friend. An fairly moderate hike, about 4.5 round trip according to the MapMyRun app. It's a pretty steep incline, so trek poles or a walking stick would be handy. You don't start to see Mt Bachelor behind until about half way up. Definitely do the whole loop once you reach the top and check out of the view to the north.
Parking: phone maps wasn't clear. It's to the right side of the highway like 500 feet past the first lodge of Mt Bachelor. You park in the snow mobile parking lot. The trail head sign is right by the bathroom.

I cannot speak to how it is in summer but winter was phenomenal. Ended up snowshoeing up there in time to see the sunrise. It was cold but ridiculously gorgeous and worth every shivering step taken. Can't wait to make it back!

I love this little hike, and I am glad that it is a short hike. This was the third leg of a big day last week (Oct-14-2015).
We started the day off with the South Sister hike. Once we finished that 12+ mile, 5000 foot climb, we transitioned over to Mt. Bachelor. That was much easier than South Sister. Mt. Bachelor added four more miles and another 2500 feet of elevation gain. When that one was done, we went across the street to do this little guy. This one was only 3 miles round trip with a mere 1700 feet of elevation gain.
All in all Tumalo was a great way to end our big 19+ mile day (and over 9000 feet of elevation gain).
Normally, Tumalo Mountain is just a once/twice a week trail run that takes me about an hour to do.
