Just seven?!

There is a large parking lot on the left as you drive into the park. Plenty of room to park an RV there for your visit. Better get there early though, all of the lots fill up fast!

I agree with the other 2 answers about the number of scenic view points; however, if you continue on Smith Rock road to where it makes a circle to take you back out, you can park for 15 minutes without paying the day fee. In my opinion, this is the view point that gives you the best overall view of the park. Monkey Face actually faces out to the west and is better seen from Terrebonne, Oregon on 97. There is no gate that is closed at dusk; however, there is no serious hiking or rock climbing done after dusk. It's too dangerous! Hope this answers your question. It really is an amazing place. One, not to be missed.

We were there again last July and took the River Trail and continued on to the Misery Ridge Trail, across the top. Do not take that trail with a small child. With your nine month old daughter I would recommend the River Trail, as others have suggested. Make sure to bring drinking water.

We didn't hear of any bear warnings-it's not really their kind of habitat-dry, gravely, sage. We were there June 2018 and there was a posting for cougar and rattle snakes. Our family was spread all over the park, but never saw either one.

There were no signs indicating that anything dangerous could come in contact with hikers. Snakes no doubt are in the rocks. Watch where you walk on a sunny warm day.

This is a state park, so you will just need to pay the $5 day use fee. Hope that helps!
