Brian Booth State Park has two major portions: Beach Creek Natural Area and Ona Beach State Park. We decided to go to the Ona Beach State Park.
At first we were walking amidst the trees. There was a river and people had a kayak.
We were heading to the beach. We saw lots of fog and driftwood.
However, there were many people on the beach. The beach was fantastic!
We saw beautiful homes at the top.
We walked for a long time. It was refreshing.
Worthwhile to experience

Yes, the sign is just north of Ona along Hwy 101 and there is a beach pull out.. However, what the general public doesn't seem to know is there's a whole lot more to Brian Booth Park. If you drive up Beaver Creek Road there is a visitor center and a whole lot of walking/hiking. You can walk beaver creek loop which has a handful of trails off of that-The view from the top is so beautiful and there's even a picnic table up there. Find the visitor center and explore... You wont regret it.

This is a good place for a picnic. It is just a short stop off of Hwy 101. There is a boat ramp on the East side of the highway where people go to launch canoes and Kayaks. Further East, about a mile, is a park visitors station, where enthusiastic volunteers can give you much information about the region and wildlife. The beach on the West side is beautiful, uncrowded and easily accessible. The peaceful creek ebbs and flows with the ocean tides. It is nice to observe from a picnic table. The park is well maintained with many trees and native flora.

Laura and Steve were great guides! We saw otters, nutria, and several types of birds. It is $20pp for a peaceful few hours away from life. A little work for a great reward!

Beautiful park with a lovely creek and very clean bathrooms. The walk to the beach is very pleasant. The Ona Beach is perfect for looking for agates. Warning! This was my first experience with a sneaker wave. It was during high tide and the king's tide. Pretty scary with the dogs and I getting caught in it and the closer you are to the Beaver Creek's outlet the more dangerous. Heavy logs were picked up and floating along without any effort. That being said, we learned our lesson and go at low tide and stay away from the Creek. At times you can see seals playing in the surf. It is absolutely gorgeous and a lovely place for a picnic. Do not attempt to camp though because of above mentioned waves.

We have been stopping at the Ona Beach area of the Brian Booth State Park for a number of years and have always found it to be a delightful place to access the beach, look for agates, and to simply enjoy the sound and sight of the coast. The park itself offers several picnic tables, restrooms, and plenty of parking even for someone pulling a trailer. The beach access is about a 1/8 mile walk through the woods on paved trails, across the bridge and over the stream to the beach. There are times when areas near the parking lot and one side of the restrooms are flooded due to winter rains, but access around these areas has always been available. The stream that runs on the border of the park looks inviting for kayaking or canoeing as well.

Really close to each other, I thought it was one area. wonderful beach again flat and easy to get to and also flat and a beautiful walk in both the woods and the beach. Great parking, empty in the winter, during the summer go early.

Crowded in summer, if you’re planning a group picnic function you’ll need to arrive early in the morning to ensure you’ll get tables. Some chanterelles grow beneath the brush at the edge of the paved walk. Winter weather keeps the crowds away. Be sure to seek out the “cave of trees”; a canopy of treetops that hide an open area good for a stroll. Once you cross the Japanese bridge heading west, follow the scrubby brush on your left until you see a step up to an opening. Once inside you can explore the maze of side trails that branch off from the open area.

This area is both a beech access area and nature area on the other side of the highway. The inland side is called the Brian Booth state park and has a boat launch for paddling up the Beaver Creek and a viewing area of the marsh. On the beach side is parking and access to a beach. Parking on the inland side lets you ride your bicycles on the road through the state park and along the road. A wonderful peaceful ride. The walk on to the marsh can be very wet and muddy.

Ona Beach is my go-to favorite all around beach walk. I live in the Willamette Valley and can easily make the car drive, walk the beach, treat myself to a meal and return to the Valley in a day.
This section of beach sports a recently paved parking lot (I have never seen it full), picnic tables, and flush toilets. The trail to the beach crosses Beaver Creek. Once on the beach, if the day is clear, visitors can see Seal Rock. And whether or not it is a clear day or a misty day or a rainy day, the sand is firm and the ocean air divine.
