closed indefinitely, because a log spanning a little 6 foot ravine broke...Sounds like a ridiculous excuse to cut down the park ranger budget by preventing enjoyment of this park

This is a very fun hike and is very easy until the last maybe half mile. Gorgeous views!! I actually wondered if I was going to finish but I just slowed down and kept going. It was totally worth it!

The hike is challenging, but do not over think it. Bring plenty of water and food. Pace yourself. Wear good hiking shoes! It took us 4 hours to complete the hike. We were moving a lot slower than others. The only disappoint was at the top of the second peak was swarming carpenter ants. 5ft the top they were gone. Great alternative views at the top. Amazing and beautiful hike!

You are in for a treat if you take this trail!!! If you go all the way, I would recommend some snacks and drink so you have a refreshment during the journey. As in all the trials in the Mountain sides of Seaside make sure you have good shoes on. You do not have to hiking boots since they created the trial for us, but it can be tricky at times. Enjoy the AWESOME views!!

This was a breathtaking (literally!) hike! Bring plenty of water and a hiking pole and you will have a fantastic day. Once at the top, if you would like a private area to just sit, relax and enjoy the view alone, head to the path to the right of the summit. (i.e., instead of heading up the steps to the left to the summit, go on the path to the right) It leads to a small little wooded area with a very peaceful view, shade, and is a great place to each your peanut butter and jelly sandwich you packed in privacy. :)

My husband and I did this hike in 3 hours including almost an hour on top. The weather was perfect and we were rewarded with views of Mt Ranier,Mt St Helens, Mt Hood, Mt Adams, and Mt Jefferson. We could see the ocean too. The trail was easy to follow and in good condition. We did the hike in sneakers and had no issues. There is chicken wire mesh on the trail near the top that helps with footing so you don't slide on the loose dirt. We couldn't get enough of the views on top. There is some exploring that can be done at the summit. It was a great hike and a great place to hang out. Highly recommend

I have been wanting to do this hike for a few years now. Today was the day. It is a 4.5 mile RT hike with about 1750 ft of elevation gain. The view at the top is spectacular. I was lucky enough to see it when the weather was clear. You could see Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams. You could also see the Pacific Ocean, Astoria and the Columbia headwaters. So Beautiful. The road of Of 26 that goes the the saddle Mountain trailhead is about 7 miles. It is a little rough and a little narrow, so take it slow. There is no Day use fee for hiking. I highly recommend this hike. Wear good hiking boots as the trail is very steep and rocky in places.

It was a cloudy (on and off day) but perfect heat-wise to go for this hike. Our two families of 7 total people (kids ages 10-12), which consisted of one family that hikes fairly regularly, and one family that doesn't, both really loved this hike. With the clouds rolling in we weren't sure if we could get a good view from the top, but we were super glad we tried. The views with the clouds in them I think made it even more dramatic! It felt like we were truly on top of the world. Since we had clouds, I'm not sure if you could see the sea but I assume you probably can on a clear day. I would HIGHLY recommend this - but as I mention, that last part is quite the doosie!
One extra bit of caution...take your time! While the volunteers, the national parks, etc. have done a nice job maintaining the trail, it has many portions of loose rock. Members of our party slipped probably 5 times or so.

Beautiful view, beautiful and rare flowers, spectacular scenery. Can be bit difficult for non hikers, slow and steady will bring you to the top.

Their are a lot of beautiful sights all your hike in this trail. I would recommend to wear good tracked shoes. I would recommend to wear a sweater on a chilly day, which you can take off if you get too warm.

Is this a hike that a 4 and 3 year old could do? Thanks.

I wouldn’t recommend it— the trail can be pretty steep, and the loose rocks can make footing challenging in several spots. The Cape Falcon trail also has excellent views and is wider and more kid-friendly, while still being interesting.
